The story of Bardy’s goes back three generations with my grandfather who was a well-known professional in the jewelry industry. He started a family owned jewelry business, Levy & Sons, where my father learned the trade first hand. In the early 1970’s, the catalog showroom giant, Best Products, bought out Levy & Sons. While at Best Products, my father was the jewelry and diamond buyer for the entire corporation. Wanting to further his career, he attended the GIA to become a graduate gemologist. 

In 1974, after graduating from the GIA, my father moved back to Greensboro NC to start his own business, Bardy’s Diamond Center. From that one store, the company grew to 7 stores throughout North Carolina. Over the years, while cultivating our fine jewelry business, my father developed a passion for estate jewelry, and turned it into a niche for our business. 

In 1996, my husband Joel joined the family business, and became a graduate gemologist. During his early years with the company, Joel worked hand in hand with my father and grandfather to develop and grow the estate department. The three of them set up at trade shows to sell to estate dealers from all over the world. They became known as “wholesale dealers to the trade”. This opened up a whole new world for our business. After my father retired, Joel and I bought the business in 2007.  We made our primary focus estate jewelry, diamonds, and signed pieces. In order to keep up with the change in the retail environment, we increased our online presence, which then enabled us to serve retail customers worldwide. 

In 2014 we opened up a wholesale and buying office in Boca Raton Florida to further expand our business. The business grew to a point that in 2016 we decided to close our Greensboro brick and mortar store to concentrate on our wholesale, tradeshow, and online businesses.
