Austin is located in Southeastern Minnesota approximately 12 miles north of the Iowa border and approximately 100 miles south of the Twin Cities metro area.Austin Utilities has built a strong, solid reputation for outstanding service. Our customers range from the residential homeowner to a Fortune 500 company. We provide the same level of dedicated service to all of our customers.Austin Utilities receives no tax dollars. Instead, nearly $1.6 million in utility revenues are transferred each year to the City of Austin's general funds. Austin Utilities Board of Commission is an elected board and comprised of customer-owners who govern the utility. The Commission approves the utility budget and establishes electric, water and natural gas rates for consumers.
