Established in 1992, AST has a 20 year track record of meeting our client’s needs. AST has two office locations: our corporate headquarters in Springboro, Ohio and our regional office in Midway, Kentucky. Our offices are centrally located to allow ease of access to Mid-Western, Mid-Atlantic, and Southern States within the Continental United States. AST prides itself in being an innovative, technology driven organization that has a proven record of results. In fact, AST has a 90% closure rate of project sites. Every time AST performs a project our goal to achieve the cleanup standards.
Our primary goal is to provide effective environmental services for a wide spectrum of projects including: soil and groundwater remediation, landfill and cap construction, demolition, underground storage tank removal and air emissions sampling. AST’s comprehensive experience allows an understanding of the critical need for environmentally sound and economically feasible services that are compliant with local, state and federal regulations.
AST owns and maintains over 35 pieces of heavy equipment (yellow iron), and specialty environmental equipment to fulfill our client’s entire project needs. This equipment includes air and water monitoring instruments, OSHA approved safety equipment, multi-media sampling tools, air compressors, generators, pumps, pressure washers, light-plants, small drilling units, Geoprobes®, sampling and decontamination trailers, trenchers, demolition shears, excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks, loaders and backhoes.
Services
AST Environmental, Inc. provides a wide range of services in five main areas: In-Situ Remediation, Environmental & Civil Construction, Waste Management & Remediation, Waste Transportation and Geoprobe® Services. These service areas have been defined by the type of activity. Many of our projects involve the integrated delivery of services from several service areas as necessary to meet the needs of our customers.
Our Team
Our environmental staff has varying backgrounds including: environmental sciences, civil and chemical engineering, geology, construction management, biology, hazardous waste technical services and heavy equipment operations.
In-Situ Remediation
We Close Sites!
AST has nearly a decade’s experience with the development and implementation of in-situ remedial approaches using the BOS 100® and BOS 200® as well as other injectates including chemical oxidizers, aerobic and anaerobic bioremediation solutions and chemical reduction products. AST has met cleanup goals on >90% of the sites we have injected BOS 100® and/or BOS 200®.
Keys for Successful Remediation using the In-Situ Injection Technology:
The Right Product – BOS 100® and BOS 200®
The Right Remedial Approach
The Right Implementation
The Right Product – BOS 100® and BOS 200® Developed by Remediation Products, Inc.
Provides Immediate Mass Reduction
Provides Immediate Plume Control
Work in a variety of soil and groundwater conditions.
Applicable to a variety of contaminants.
Non-toxic and have no impact on soil properties or groundwater quality.
Reasonably cost-effective, at least in comparison to existing remedies.
A passive system, easily installed
BOS 100® is a product developed to remediate chlorinated compounds such as PCE, TCE, DCE and VC. While BOS 200® is developed to remediate petroleum hydrocarbons including gasoline and diesel range organics and other hydrocarbons. There are two primary treatment mechanisms take place with BOS products.
The first mechanism the BOS Products use is the “Trap”: both BOS 100® and 200® use activated carbon to absorb petroleum hydrocarbons. The second mechanism is the “Treat”; BOS 100 uses “reductive dechlorination” using zero valent iron and BOS 200® use Biodegradation, using a facultative blend of bacteria. The BOS 200® provides an environment ideal for the biological process, where hydrocarbons are absorbed on to BOS particles, are made up of:
Electron Acceptors: oxygen, nitrate, ammonia and sulfate
Nutrients: phosphorus and nitrogen
Aerobic and anaerobic blend of microbes
The Right Remedial Approach – Focus on Minimizing Cost and Achieving Remedial Goals in a Timely Manner
Perform a detailed Site Evaluation to develop an accurate Conceptual Site Model (CSM) – This is critical to success.
Development of a Comprehensive Remedial Design – Including injection point layouts and injectate loadings (lbs/injection and lbs/ft3)
Preparation of Pricing for Complete Remediation – Performance Based Pricing Upon request
The Right Implementation
Right Personnel – AST’s Staff includes: Engineers, Geologists, Soil Scientists, Environmental Scientists, Drillers, Environmental Technicians and Site Managers.
Commitment Matters – AST has invested in the right equipment and make continual improvements to our injection equipment.
Use of effective injection technique: top down installation in clays and silty clays to eliminate short circuiting and product distribution during installation.
Our treatment systems, specifically the injection pumps, have been designed and built to perform in any geologic setting while maintaining the same production rate of approximately 35 gpm. The advantages of these trailers include:
Ability to create separations in the soils such as silts and clays.
High velocity injection discharge for the sandy soils.
High daily production rates at high injection pressures (36 gpm @ 1,200 psig).
Stainless steel construction provides versatility to inject highly reactive chemicals.
Ability to pump highly viscous slurries and injectates.
AST has four Geoprobe® direct push rigs capability delivering the products to depths as deep as 70’ bgs. As well, these units can be used to perform well installation and soil sampling. The units include: two 7822 tracked units and two 54LT tracked units.
Safety Matters – Maintain excellent safety records
