Appliance Recycling SA was approved as a Collective System for Alternative Waste Management of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in June 2004. The primary goal of the company is the decisive contribution to the achievement of the national objectives, as they are defined by the European and Greek legislation, as well as the effective control of the cost of the Alternative Management of WEEE.

The European directive, which has been incorporated into Greek law since May 2014, stipulates that from 2016 the quantity that each Member State must collect and recycle amounts to 45% of the average weight of the devices purchased in the immediately preceding three years . In 2019 this percentage should have reached 65%, while the quality targets increase respectively by 5%. Until 2015, the national targets included the separate collection of at least 4 kg of WEEE of household origin on average per inhabitant and per year.
