Bob Schinder founded American Computer Floors, Inc. in 1983 as a full service raised access computer flooring company. At that time, quite a few of our jobs required hand railing systems and Bob became so dissatisfied with the quality of hand railing systems ACF was purchasing and with the delivery delays, that he started fabricating his own railings. For someone who started out as a union iron worker and had a background in metal work and welding, this was a natural transition.As time went on, our railings caught the attention of other flooring companies, including some of our competitors and subsequently, we got calls to make railings for them. As demand for our high-quality railings continued to increase, Bob, seeing a market opening up for pre-built railing systems, decided to discontinue the raised access floor business, changed our name to American Custom Fabricators (ACF) and as the saying goes "the rest is history". Although ACF changed its product, our business motto remained the same -- deliver a high quality product at a competitive price and on schedule.
