Alumisource was founded with the idea of providing specialized raw materials, material processing and blending solutions to the aluminum and steel industries. We provide raw material inputs to the aluminum industry in the form of custom shredded and blended aluminum scrap. Through careful sourcing, inspection and processing, we are able to provide a unique aluminum scrap alternative that can be used as feedstock in either reverb or rotary furnaces.For the steel industry, Alumisource provides a variety of products in the form of raw materials for artificial slag conditioners, deoxidation and desulphurization products. By leveraging our shredding, screening and briquetting equipment, Alumisource is able to provide a wide range of blended aluminum products designed to meet the unique requirements of our customers.Our facility in Monessen, Pennsylvania is located just thirty miles south of Pittsburgh with convenient access to Interstate 70. With over 300,000sf under roof, our plant is ideally suited to protect our materials from moisture and contamination while providing for large scale processing and storage. The plant, built in 1980, has rail access, six 40 ton overhead cranes, multiple truck loading docks and a certified 70’ truck scale.In 1991 our founder, Gabe Hudock, recognized the need to provide processing services to the emerging residential recycling market and founded Metalife Resources. Solid waste and recycling companies were required to begin providing curbside recycling but few had the capability to process and market what they were mandated to collect. For nearly twenty years, Metalife grew to become Recycle Management and along the way purchased Alcoa’s UBC processing plant in Pittsburgh, along with several other key acquisitions. Recycle Management soon became the largest residential and commercial processing plant in the region. In 2007, Recycle Management was divested to Dublin, Ireland based Greenstar North America. With the market experience of Recycle Management, Alumisource was founded in 2007.

Alumisource is located in the Mon Valley, so named for the Monongahela River that created this area, and are just thirty miles south of Pittsburgh in Monessen, PA . Our twenty five acre site can trace it roots as a steel mill dating back to the 1850s with previous owners including Bethlehem Steel, Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Esmark, ISG and Arcelor Mital Steel. With over 300,000sf under roof, our plant is ideally suited to protect our materials from moisture and contamination while providing for large scale processing and storage. The plant is has rail access, six overhead cranes, multiple truck loading docks and certified scales.Alumisource has made a commitment to locate our facility in the Mon Valley to utilize its established industrial base and capable workforce.
