Florida's License Requirements for Septic Tank Contractors

Anyone practicing septic tank contracting in Florida must be registered and approved by the State of Florida. This includes statewide training for any new installations or repairs of septic systems. Once licensed by Florida's Department of Health, registration must be renewed annually.

Using a unlicensed septic tank contractor can have severe consequences. Hiring an unqualified contractor may lead to low quality work and eventual septic leaking. The water table is shallow in Florida and leaks contaminate sources of drinking water for people and animals. Using an unlicensed contractor may void your insurance coverage. If a leak occurs, you would be responsible for the cost of clean up (thousands of dollars) plus any fines issued by the State.
