The Alberta Recycling Management Authority (Alberta Recycling) is a not-for-profit association responsible for managing Alberta’s Tire, Electronics and Paint Recycling Programs.  The organization reports to the Minister of Environment and Parks, and is run by a Board of Directors representing many stakeholder groups.

Originally established in 1992 to manage the province’s tire recycling program, Alberta Recycling has since evolved to manage recycling programs for tires, electronics and paint. Each program operates under separate divisions and is funded through the collection of environmental fees that are applied to the sale of eligible products such as new tires, TVs and computers, and paint products.

Home-grown programs that are world-class

Alberta's recycling programs continue to be recognized as some of the best in Canada and around the world.  Tire recycling initiatives created by Albertans have given life to a sustainable tire-recycling industry in Alberta - one that continues to develop and export innovative products made from recycled tires to the world.  Alberta's electronics recycling program was the first of its kind in Canada and continues to ensure TVs and computer equipment are recycled in an environmentally sound manner.  Not to be outdone is the paint recycling program which began in 2008 and since then has seen millions of litres of leftover paint recycled from residences and businesses.

Alberta Recycling is accountable to the people of Alberta for the responsible management of environmental fees and the environmental outcomes that result from the electronics, tire and paint recycling programs.  To ensure the organization remains accountable, its strategic business plan aligns with the mission, core business and waste minimization goals of Alberta Environment and Parks, and the Government of Alberta.
