A successful business model with a lasting impact

Using old products and materials again as a source of raw materials - when ALBA was launched in 1968, this idea was considered a desirable but unrealistic utopia. From the beginning, ALBA saw waste as more than annoying disposable products and invested early in technologies for processing the valuable materials it contains. In Berlin at the beginning of the 1970s, we started collecting glass, paper and cardboard separately and recycling them. The "Berlin model" comes from us - the separation of recyclable materials according to material fractions, which makes high-quality recycling possible and is used all over Germany today.

Full range with vision

With its two brands, ALBA and Interseroh, the ALBA Group is active in Germany and Europe as well as in Asia. In 2018, its business units generated sales of 2.1 billion euros and employed a total of over 8,000 people. This makes the ALBA Group one of the leading recycling and environmental service providers as well as raw material suppliers worldwide. The recycling activities of the ALBA Group saved around 4.1 million tons of greenhouse gases compared to primary production and around 30.2 million tons of primary raw materials in 2017 alone.

As a full-range supplier, we cover the entire range of environmental services: starting with advice on disposal issues and licensing of packaging in the so-called dual systems market, through the range of facility management services , reliable recycling solutions and the latest sorting technology, as well as logistics , disposal and innovative product development up to the delivery of raw materials all over the world.

As a traditional family company, we are not dependent on short-term capital market interests and can therefore plan long-term. We think in a market economy and focus on the needs of our customers - without losing sight of the ecology or the concerns of future generations.

At the end of the 1960s, we were ahead of our time. Today, raw material recycling for the recovery of recycling raw materials from many industries and production processes is indispensable. For thousands of years people have been exploiting the earth, digging raw materials from the ground, pumping oil and gas to the surface. And they deposit garbage in landfills and send exhaust air into the atmosphere. Mankind cannot go on like this, because statistically it consumes 1.7 earths every year. Our way of life is not sustainable, nature cannot balance human intervention and global warming.
