Airtec Corporation, formerly known as Airtec Metal Products Company, began as a partnership on October 28, 1936 between C.A. Wines and Harold Blood. The business started in a small garage located on a side street off of West Jefferson. Airtec first manufactured residential steel storm sash and screens.
Despite the lean years during World War II, Airtec was able to broaden its product line to include screens, storm sash, and combination screens-and-guards for all types of steel and wood windows. In 1946, Airtec constructed its first building on Seven Mile Road in Detroit. Employees were all grateful because the new facility had a restroom whereas the old garage did not. In 1956, Blood had left the partnership allowing Airtec to become incorporated.
By the 1970s, Airtec continued to broaden its role as a distributor by adding Hollow Metal doors, Frames, and Finish Hardware to its product line. At this time, Airtec established two divisions; Architectural and Manufacturing. These developments were to broaden the product line offerings in the specialized and construction industry.
Today, Airtec continues to serve the architectural and construction industries with the addition of custom metal fabrication. Airtec continues to serve the same high level of quality and customer service that it has maintained over the last 80 years.
