The company was founded by Carl Fredrik Carlsson in 1907 as a metal foundry. Erik Åkerblom, son-in-law of CFCarlsson, started in the company in the mid-1930s and after Carlsson's death in 1939, he took over the leadership.
Metals were needed for the foundry and this was the beginning of the Scrap Shop. In the beginning, both the metal foundry and the scrap store were located in the middle of town (Gussarvet), but were moved in 1949-1950 to their current location in the industrial area at Ivarshyttevägen.
During the years 1956-1959, the company was also a cast iron foundry. In 1967, the whole foundry side ended and they continued as a scrap store and also started with haulage (trucks and machines). In 1974, Åkerbloms Skrotaffär AB was formed. The previous owners, Per-Erik Åkerblom and Eino Hakala have passed away.
