Lunar Year of the Horse 2014 UK Tenth-Ounce Gold Brilliant Uncirculated Coin
Product Details:
In 2014 The Royal Mint launches a new series with the Lunar Year of the Horse 2014 UK Tenth-Ounce Gold Brilliant Uncirculated coin. The Shengxiao Collection, inspired by centuries of tradition, begins with the first coin in the series created by artist Wuon-Gean Ho for the Lunar Year of the Horse. It features a dynamic horse design that unites Chinese and British heritage, captured in fine gold to a superior Brilliant Uncirculated finish with limited edition presentations to satisfy international demand.
The Royal Mint’s Lunar coins lend a unique British angle to an ancient tradition. They are perfect to wish good fortune and a prosperous year to the recipient, to continue the gifting tradition seen at Lunar New Year or to begin a beautiful new collection. They are a first for The Royal Mint, the first legal tender Lunar coins struck for the United Kingdom and they begin an auspicious series: The Shengxiao Collection, named to honour the Chinese zodiac.
Beginning the Shengxiao Collection are coins struck for the Lunar Year of the Horse. British Chinese artist and printmaker Wuon-Gean Ho has created a dynamic design combining a powerful and impressive horse with the famous Uffington Horse, an ancient white horse carved into the chalk hills of Oxfordshire, at its feet. Struck in 999.9 fine gold with a superior Brilliant Uncirculated finish the resulting combination is a stunning display of both British and Chinese heritage. With only 2,888 (with the lucky number eight!) Lunar Year of the Horse 2014 UK Tenth-Ounce Gold Brilliant Uncirculated coins available, an early order is recommended.
