In 2009, the United States Mint introduced a six-year platinum coin program. This series explores the core concepts of American democracy by highlighting the Preamble of the United States Constitution. This program will examine the six principles of the Preamble as follows:

  1. 2009--To Form a More Perfect Union
  2. 2010--To Establish Justice
  3. 2011--To Insure Domestic Tranquility
  4. 2012--To Provide for the Common Defence
  5. 2013--To Promote General Welfare
  6. 2014--To Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and our Posterity

The themes for the reverse designs for this program are inspired by narratives prepared by John G. Roberts Jr., Chief Justice of the United States, at the request of the United States Mint.
