1867-1897 Mexico Silver 8 Reales Cap-Ray NGC MS62
Product Description:
Before the U.S. Mint started striking Morgan Silver Dollars, there was a desperate shortage of silver coins in the Old West. The gap was filled by these Mexican 8 Reales "Silver Dollars." They're known as Cap and Ray Dollars because of the Liberty cap and sun's rays on the obverse. Cowboys used them, ne'er-do-wells stole them and folks bought life's essentials with them-and they were certainly the "dollars" carried by "the man with no name"! When we were offered a small hoard in Mint State condition dating between 1867 and 1897 we lassoed them in for you.
