The association of Swiss automobile importers auto-schweiz set up the foundation in 1992 with the purpose of promoting the environmentally friendly disposal of motor vehicles and closing material cycles. Today's car recycling recovers high-quality and valuable raw materials from accident and end-of-life vehicles. They get back into the production of vehicles and other products via smelters. Thermal treatment plants recover thermal energy from the residues for the production of electricity and district heating.
