Pure North Recycling recycles plastic with steam energy and electricity from a steam power plant with the aim of completing as little or no carbon footprint as possible.

Today, Pure North Recycling is the only company in Iceland that fully recycles plastic. The production method is unique in the world as geothermal energy is used in the production, which both makes the process more environmentally friendly and operating costs are lower.

Plastic pollution is a serious man-made environmental problem that is growing. It is important that each nation becomes sustainable with its own circular economy and recycles its plastic. The goal of recycling is for plastic to return to plastic and for complete processing to leave as little or no carbon footprint as possible, but no chemicals are used in the processing.
