CSH Environmental was born in 1981 as Colchester Mini Skips after lorry driver Terry Slade came up with the idea of hiring out skips while he was away driving and picking them up again on his return.

Colchester Mini Skips became Colchester Skip Hire in 1988 and eventually CSH Environmental in 2013. That final change of name reflected the changing nature of our business as waste management became more and more about recycling rather than disposal.

Today, we operate East Anglia’s biggest waste recycling facility, which is able to process ever more different products, and we export to countries around the world where our waste is turned into new products. Our motto is ‘Recycling for the Future’ and we are proud to be able to regularly divert over 99% of the waste we collect away from landfill, whether that’s for recycling or for energy from waste.
