Altmetalle Kranner GmbH
Stetten, Gewerbegebiet 3, Vienna, Austria | Memberships : Nil
It all started in 1947. The war was over, there was hardly any food but a lot of junk, from bullet casings to broken tanks. A few years later, the occupying forces withdrew, leaving behind many so-called surplus goods that were bought and sold. The packaging unit was the wagon, the office the coffee house.
In the fifties. A magazine and a tiny office were rented. A worker was on call whenever goods were delivered.
By the beginning of 2020, the family business will be run by Brigitte and Felix Kranner in the 3rd generation with over 25 employees at three locations. Nothing is reminiscent of the early years: we buy scrap metal in small quantities from many different suppliers. The scrap metal is sorted by hand according to recycling criteria and delivered in large quantities to smelting plants.
Humans have been using metals for about 7000 years. And metals have been recycled for so long. It is much more economical and environmentally friendly to use scrap metal as a raw material than to extract new metal from ore.
