The sample with a story of PMC started in 2011 with the initiators Nathalie van de Poel, Jan Henk Wijma and Bert Bult. They all have a background in the steel industry. Scrap metal was used to produce steel. At the time, therefore, scrap was offered, which still contained a small amount of asbestos. The scrap could not be cleaned sufficiently and would therefore be dumped in designated landfills. This is how the idea was born to destroy the asbestos and recycle the steel by melting it in a steel bath at 1550 degrees. Various scientific literature shows that all types of asbestos are destroyed within a few seconds and are converted into components that are already in the steel bath, namely silicon oxide, magnesium oxide and water.

The years that follow resemble a very extensive voyage of discovery. To prove the concept, feasibility studies are carried out on economic, technical and legal levels. For this, various leading partners are being sought who have united over time to form a rock-solid consortium. The idea has been successfully demonstrated in all areas and is estimated to be economically feasible, so that financing will start at the beginning of 2017. The financing will be completed in July 2018 and the realization of PMC will be a fact in July 2020.
