Margaret Pahio has been known for having a tremendous passion for caring for her community. Having been diagnosed with cancer, Margaret never let that hold her back from doing what she loved. In the last months of her battle she experienced first-hand the challenges of having limited mobility. She was unable to drive or ride in a regular vehicle which made it difficult for her to get around. Margaret had to rely on professional mobility transporters to get to her medical appointments which made her aware of the few transportation options available to the community. In her desire to help others, Margaret and Business Services Hawaii donated a 2016 Dodge Caravan to Hui Mālama Ola Nā 'ÅŒiwi. The Hui Mālama Ola Nā 'ÅŒiwi organization has focused on providing health care for diabetes, cancer and heart disease through prevention, services and support on the Hawai’i island. This vehicle targets just that, it is fully equipped to carry a passenger in a wheelchair or gurney and will be able to transport people to their medical appointments safe and comfortably.

Business Services Hawaii operates the Big Island HI-5 beverage container redemption program, with convenient redemption centers located in Keaau, Hilo, Pahoa, Honokaa, Waimea, Hawi, Puako and Ocean View. Visit our Locations page for hours of operation.

What we do:
Why throw away your recyclables when Business Services Hawaii has convenient, easily-accessible redemption centers located near you? The Hawaii Deposit Beverage Container Program (HI-5) places a 5¢ redeemable deposit on each beverage container. Just look for the HI 5¢ label on your glass, plastic and aluminum containers, then take them to any of our redemption centers to get cash back and help protect the environment at the same time. All containers must be empty of liquid and debris removed.​

Save space!
​Flattened aluminum and plastic containers are also accepted at our redemption centers. Please leave the HI-5 label visible on beverage containers, usually located on the top of aluminum cans and the container label on the plastic and glass bottles.Now you can also donate your recyclable items to a participating non-profit organization.
