History

Randy and Sandy Roskowiak started Randy’s Sanitation in 1979 with just one garbage truck and a lot of ingenuity. At that time, the company consisted of a couple hundred residential customers and just a few commercial accounts sprinkled in between. The business was operated out of Randy and Sandy’s home. During the day Randy was in his truck servicing the customers, and in the evening he knocked on doors to drum up new business. Sandy ran the books and answered the phones while tending to a quickly growing family.
Oh, how the business has changed over the years.When Randy and Sandy started out, recycling was quite a foreign concept. However, today it is a large part of the business. The recent addition of Organics Recycling and Document Destruction Service has truly set us apart from the rest.
What was once a “garbage company” has matured into an “all-inclusive service company”.
To better reflect the full range of services that we provide, Randy and Sandy recently changed the business name to Randy’s Environmental Services.
Today, Randy’s Environmental Services is the largest independent waste hauling company in the state of Minnesota and is consistently ranked in the top 60 waste hauling companies in the nation. Through hard work and integrity, Randy’s has become one of the finest full-service hauling companies anywhere. Randy’s Environmental Services is a total family effort. Randy and Sandy feel truly blessed to have all five sons actively involved in the business and they look forward to carrying on the ownership and operation of the business in a family-friendly way, just as it has for more than 30 years.

Randy and Sandy Roskowiak are proud to have all six of their children involved in the family business.

• Michaela, their youngest, is currently attending college and is involved in company operations during school breaks.
• Bobby, the oldest, is the Director of Company Operations. He’s also responsible for coordinating routes, overseeing the fabrication shop and purchasing equipment.
• Andy, next in line, is the Director of Commercial Sales & Commodity Marketing. In addition to managing the Commercial Sales Department, Andy is responsible for selling all of the commodities that are sorted in our Material Recovery Facility.
• Nick, Drop Site Manager, ensures that things are running seamlessly at our public drop site at the Delano location. Nick ensures that all materials we receive are recycled or disposed of properly.
• Ben is our Operations Manager, who manages our shop & driver personnel and oversees our daily business activities while ensuring the safety of our fleet, drivers, and customers.
• Chris is a Commercial Account Representative whose responsibilities include assisting our customers with their waste removal and recycling needs, and selling a variety of services offered by Randy’s.

Innovative solutions today, and down the road
In 2012, Randy’s became the first Minnesota waste-disposal company to replace some of its diesel trucks with compressed natural gas-powered (CNG) vehicles. Randy's continues to invest in converting it's entire fleet to quiet, clean burning natural gas and our customer's notice the difference!Randy's also operates a state-of-the-art material recovery facility (MRF) at it's Delano location.

Randy’s Environmental Services is a leader in developing innovative approaches to business recycling Services programs, and we’re committed to maximizing the value of the products collected on our recycle routes. We are proud to lead the industry by being the first to offer new programs in the communities we serve. In 2007, we opened a new state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Delano, Minnesota. This facility allows us to process and market the recyclables we collect with the utmost integrity and energy efficiency. In 2009, we recycled over 21,000,000 pounds of paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, tin, and aluminum. The efforts of our customers have saved them over $445,000 in disposal fees and an additional $112,000 in solid waste taxes.

Public Drop Sites - St. Michael Public Drop Site, MN 

The Randy’s Environmental Services St. Michael public drop site provides a very convenient drop off location for St Michael, Albertville, Monticello, Buffalo, Rogers, Elk River, Maple Grove, Hanover and Otsego residents, organizations and business owners looking for a recycling drop off center or legal dump site.
We’d love to help preserve the beauty of the abundant parks, lakes and natural resources around St Michael and make it easy to drop off materials and have them properly recycled or disposed of.
Heading to the award winning St Michael City Center? Make a quick stop with all those old cell phones, computers, televisions tires or other unwanted clutter that is sitting in the garage.
Open Six Days a Week! We accept many items that cannot be disposed of in your garbage pick-up such as: televisions, monitors, cell phones & electronics, tires, fluorescent lights, batteries, mattresses and appliances. We can dispose of or recycle almost any material including: cardboard, discarded items and construction waste so you don't have to stop at a lot of drop off locations. We have it all right here.
If you need to get rid of some top-secret papers, you can bring them to us for shredding. We provide a complete list of items that we’re able to accept along with a list of hazardous waste materials we cannot accept. These include some drop off recyclable items, some disposal items and some hazardous waste materials. If you aren't sure, call us.
The St. Michael public drop site is located 2 miles N of 94. Take 101 N, West on Co Rd 36, take 1st right onto Quam Ave.

Randy’s public drop sites do not accept the following items:

Document Destruction Services You’ll Never Have To Worry About 

In an effort to protect current and future clients and enhance our portfolio of services, Randy’s Environmental Services has formed a separate Document Destruction Division dedicated to the secure shredding of confidential documents and electronic media. In addition to being bonded and insured, each employee is drug tested, background checked, and AAA Certified by the National Association for Information Destruction (N.A.I.D.). Our team of professionals can provide you with mobile on-site document destruction services at a competitive price.
You can select from a full line of secure containers to accommodate your shredding needs. Our Document Destruction Division caters to many industries including governmental, financial, legal, health care, law enforcement, large corporations, property management companies, and a wide variety of small businesses. Whether you have just a few boxes of old records, or an ongoing flow of confidential material, contact our Document Destruction Division to ensure the job is done right!

On-Site Document Destruction Service
When subscribing to our On-Site document destruction services, a AAA Certified N.A.I.D. Security Technician will come directly to your home or business. After presenting a photo ID badge, the Security Technician will transfer the material from your Secure Container(s) to the mobile document destruction truck waiting outside your door. The material is then deposited into a high-volume shredder where it is quickly destroyed.
Each mobile document destruction truck is equipped with a video monitoring system allowing you to observe your material be destroyed via an on-board closed circuit television screen. For added peace of mind, you are welcome to witness the process every time the service is performed. After all materials have been destroyed, the Security Technician will provide you with a Certificate of Destruction for your records.On-Site document destruction service is available for both regular scheduled route visits and “on call” arrangements. We can also arrange On-Site service for one-time bulk shredding needs resulting from file purging or spring cleaning. No job is too small or too large for the Document Destruction Division at Randy’s Environmental Services.

Business Organics Recycling Programs

Starting a Business Organics Recycling Program with Randy’s Environmental Services allows your school or business to expand its recycling program to include food waste and food-soiled paper products. Businesses and schools can play an important role in easing the burden on the environment considering that half of the waste produced in Hennepin County comes from businesses, and about 25 percent of what we throw away is food and food-soiled paper. In an Organics Recycling program, all food scraps and paper food service items are placed in a single container that we provide. From there, the waste is delivered to a composting facility where it is recycled into valuable compost. Finished compost is an organic-rich soil amendment that is used to improve soil structure and water-holding capacity of soils and minimize leaching of nutrients. Compost prevents soil erosion and polluted storm water runoff from contaminating our wetlands, lakes and streams. In addition, compost can also be used to reclaim marginal soils and can be used in gardens, golf courses, playing fields, road construction projects and landscaping.
