Customers that contract with GreenMouse, to have their electronic waste removed, can depend on its friendly and hard-working team to collect and properly recycle their electronic waste. Computers, TVs, monitors and other equipment are recycled or re-purposed as much as possible. We provide our customers with confidence that their end-of-life equipment will be recycled according to the rules and regulations set forth by the State of California (Department of Toxic and Substances Control) and have created a single set of standards that serve as a basis for following those guidelines. Our commitment is to prevent e-waste from being sent for processing outside of the United States or 'dumped' in landfills or incinerators. Most e-waste collected by our company is processed at GreenMouse Recycling for the purpose of creating local jobs. The processed e-waste is then converted into metal and plastic scrap for resale.
Other items, such as televisions and monitors are processed at a leading California State approved recycling facility - ERI (www.electronicrecyclers.com). ERI is e-Stewards, R2 and ISO 14001 Certified. These certifications for recyclers provide a high level of consumer confidence that the recycler conforms to standards required for responsible recycling and reuse of electronic equipment. This includes adhering to the highest standards of environmental responsibility and worker protection.GreenMouse Recycling started as an e-waste recycling business. They are committed to building communities, by providing a friendly and convenient way to dispose of unwanted waste. Evelyn O'Donnell, a Silicon Valley veteran, founded the company after a 15-year career in high-tech marketing and sales. Evelyn's vision was to create a purpose-driven company, that would provide sustainable employment and training to disadvantaged adults.
In 2010, GreenMouse Recycling partnered with the City of San Jose and its work2future. They provided training and employment opportunities for at-risk young adults through its Green Cadre Program. In 2011, GreenMouse Recycling received the Community Builder Award from the City of San Jose for its contributions and leadership. GreenMouse Recycling also collaborates with Rebekah Children’s Services (rcskids.org) to offer work experience and employment opportunities for at-risk high school students.
We provide our customers with confidence that their end-of-life equipment will be recycled according to the rules and regulations set forth by the State of California (Department of Toxic Substances Control) and have created a single set of standards that serve as a basis for adhering to these guidelines. Further, GreenMouse Recycling is committed to following the responsible recycling 'R2' guidelines, which are voluntary practices used to assess and certify electronics recyclers' environmental, health and safety, and security practices. Our goal is to keep e-waste from being sent for processing outside of the United States (i.e., China, Africa, India) or 'dumped' in landfill. Most e-waste collected by our company is processed here at GreenMouse Recycling for the purpose of creating local jobs. Processed e-waste is converted into metal and plastic scrap for resale. Services
It's been a pleasure serving our customers and the community over the past 10 years and we look forward to doing business with you in the future.During the past few months, we made the difficult decision to start charging a nominal fee for some of our services, which is due to the recent decline in the price of commodities and the added cost of doing business. However, there are still many items that you may drop off for FREE at our collection center (see list below - What We Take). What we charge for are hard drive destruction and paper shredding services. We also charge for recycling appliances, fluorescent lights, batteries, household items (vacuum cleaners, stereo equipment, players/speakers, toasters, blenders, coffee makers, toys), printers, copy and fax machines, keyboards/mice and other miscellaneous items. Our first aim is to please our customers, however, we will not be able to serve you if our business incurs losses. We are confident, nonetheless, that you will find the quality of our services in light of these charges to be quite reasonable and competitive.GreenMouse Recycling brings to businesses and neighborhoods the widest range of electronics recycling services to San Jose, San Mateo, San Francisco, and Palo Alto.
