Who Are Our Members?

Uinta Recycling, Inc. members are individuals, families and businesses in the community who support the vision and mission of URI. They are community leaders, who by their recycling efforts, volunteerism and financial backing, positively influence their neighbors, friends and elected officials.
Members represent one-third of the URI Partnership equation and have voting rights at the annual meeting. The future of recycling in Evanston and Uinta County depends upon the contributions of the members of URI.
As a small token of appreciation, URI waives the $5.00 fee imposed on televisions and computer monitors for URI members.
Please support these local businesses that have contributed financially to our operation: Long Reimer Winegar Beppler Law Firm, Clancy's Shred-It Scan-It Image-It, Bailey Appraising Services, Cazin and Houtz, Frontier Psychological Associates, LC., T.C.'s Steakhouse, Evanston Insurance Services, LLP, Family Financial Education Foundation, Pantle Services, LLC, ProWireline, Inc.

Sort It!

  • Separate white ledger from mixed paper - white ledger brings in much more revenue than mixed paper - it's worth it!
  • Remove plastic packing and styrofoam from cardboard boxes. We do not currently recycle plastics. Some local shipping businesses will take packing materials for re-use, and Wal-Mart will take all types of plastic for recycling.
  • No need to break down cardboard boxes or pressboard containers--the compactor will do the work for you!
  • Rinse glass bottles, steel cans and aluminum cans. This keeps our operation tidy and helps to prevent contamination.
  • Remove plastic covering from magazines and newspapers before placing in the mixed paper bins.
  • Ask for help with your shredded paper--Wyoming wind is a constant battle!

Why Not Single Stream?

  • Sorting places responsibility on individual recyclers.
  • Sorting brings the highest prices for recycled materials.
  • Single Stream requires a very large facility for sorting and packaging materials.
  • Single Stream results in a large amount of contamination, and some of the recyclable materials may have to be sent to the landfill.

Just a reminder of what we cannot recycle at this time:

  • Car Batteries (hazardous waste)
  • All plastic (Wal-Mart takes all plastic)
  • Styrofoam and packing peanuts (Shipping Plus will take peanuts and bubble wrap)
