Secure Enterprise Asset Management (SEAM) is mitigating risk with secure, transparent data destruction and technology lifecycle solutions.
Value Recovery
Value recovery comes in many different forms. Along with financial return on electronic assets, when the right IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) program is in place organizations benefit from increased efficiencies, security and sustainability benefits.
- SEAM's main goal is to reuse equipment as much as possible. Through refurbishment, redeployment, resale, and disassembly, greater value recovery and sustainability is achieved.
- SEAM’s certified technicians assess the resale potential of an asset based on the age, functionality, appearance and overall condition. Assets that are able to be reused are wiped of all data, cleaned, tested, refurbished and repaired to obtain the best possible remarketing value. Clients may be eligible for revenue sharing or remarketing credit if their equipment is able to be resold.
Data Destruction at your Doorstep
SEAM’s mobile on-site data destruction offers customers a convenient, fast and secure shredding solution for hard drives and other data storage devices including flash drives, cell phones, backup tapes, CD's and more.
This option lets customers witness the shredding process without assets ever leaving their property, providing the highest level of security possible for data conscious organizations. Our certified technicians travel to customer locations with professional mobile equipment to physically destroy hard drives and other data storage media in accordance with NIST SP 800-88r1 standards. Once the onsite data shredding has been performed, all of the destroyed media materials are securely transported back to SEAM’s processing facility to undergo end-of-life processing.
Data Shredding
Shredding electronic assets has become the widely trusted standard among data security conscious organizations. SEAM provides secure data shredding in accordance with NIST Special Publication 800-88 (Revision 1) standards for data storage devices including hard drives, backup tapes, solid state drives, CDs, DVDs, floppy disks, cell phones, PDAs, and other media types both on-site at a customer’s location or off-site at our secure facility, depending on customer requirements.Data containing devices exist in all forms, not just computers. SEAM is fully equipped to manage a broad portfolio of data-containing devices. Security carts are provided for on-site collection of devices, keeping sensitive information safe until it is ready to be destroyed. SEAM’s industrial shredders grind down all types of data storage devices, rendering the contained data irretrievable.
Environmental Compliance:
SEAM strives to reduce the environmental impact of e-waste in our community by responsibly reusing and recycling electronic equipment. We are committed to minimizing waste and preventing pollution through sound reuse methods, focused on continual improvement of environmental, quality, health and safety standards. SEAM maintains recycling standards in compliance with e-Stewards, R2:2013, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001:2004 certifications, the highest worldwide standards for data security, environmental management systems and quality processes.
Our downstream partners must pass rigorous environmental audits before they can become an approved vendor. SEAM obtains an audit package from all prospective partners that details their processes, end-of-stream locations, insurance, licenses, permits, and regulator’s information. All downstream vendors are fully audited annually according to SEAM’s certification requirements. SEAM does not allow the export of Focus and 'hazardous e-waste' materials to developing countries, either directly nor indirectly through downstream partners.
Onsite Asset Removal
Today's businesses are under immense pressure to protect their data-bearing assets. This responsibility continues even when equipment leaves your facility.SEAM travels to customer locations to perform on-site services for secure shipping and transportation using our own technicians and our own fleet of vehicles. On-site services include asset removal and decommissioning, packaging, and professional shredding of hard drives and other data-containing media. This ensures complete data destruction before equipment even leaves your property.
IT Asset Recycling
The average lifespan of today’s technology typically ranges from 10 months for assets like tablets and phones, to 2-3 years for PCs and servers. Without a plan in place, you are exposing yourself to huge operational risks. With the growing amount of electronic waste (e-waste), proper recycling is more important than ever before. If disposed of improperly, harmful materials such as lead, cadmium, chromium, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) can contaminate our soil and water if dumped illegally, or create toxic fumes if incinerated. Effective May 4, 2004, a City of Sioux Falls ordinance banned electronics from the Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill, making it illegal to throw IT assets in the landfill.
SEAM provides electronics, bulb and battery recycling services using secure and environmentally sound methods to keep you in compliance and make sure you are protected. Everything we touch is handled in accordance with the highest worldwide certifications for environmental management systems and quality processes. We follow strict guidelines including no-overseas and no-landfill policies, and establish a documented, chain of custody trail for your assets while safely and securely maximizing value.
At SEAM, we go above and beyond the EPA supported waste management hierarchy. We believe reuse is the best form of recycling and follow a strict No Landfill policy for all electronic equipment that enters our facility. Our technicians are trained to identify incoming material for reuse as whole units as well as for the recovery of precious metals and other valuable commodities. Material that is able to be reused is thoroughly tested, data is securely erased, and the unit is remarketed. Material that is not able to be reused due to low value or by customer requirement, is disassembled and separated into its core elements including aluminum, copper wire, steel, precious metals, glass and plastic. Individual commodities are then recycled for reuse in the most environmentally safe manner possible in accordance with SEAM's stringent certifications. Certificates of Destruction and Recycling are provided for all IT equipment recycling services.
