Anything that contains personal, proprietary, or sensitive information is destroyed in the companies giant shredder and other components are recycled.

DE-MANUFACTURING

• Great Lakes Electronics process means de-manufacturing.
• We take old computers, servers, mainframes, cable boxes, TVs and other electronics, and turn them into piles of recyclable bits and pieces. Components of value are allocated for reuse or recovery of raw materials. Remaining scraps are then properly recycled by permitted associate facilities. We use a 15-foot-tall shredder that chews electronics into chunks as small as the change in your pocket.
• Nathan Zack, President of Great Lakes Electronics started this company with an intention to dispose of old electronics in an environmentally responsible way. We have a ZERO LANDFILL policy.
• We recycle all types of electronic equipment containing circuit boards, cathode ray tubes, ferrous and non-ferrous metals. No minimum shipments.
• Shredded electronics components go to a separator that picks apart the iron, aluminum and plastics, and ships them to companies that recycle those specific materials.
• We record the serial numbers and other information for every computer destroyed, using a proprietary bar scanning system.
• Our process keeps lead, cadmium, lithium and other electronics toxins out of landfills. Even old wood is sent to a chopper and turned into mulch.

Recycling

Secure and Responsible Electronics Recycling

Great Lakes Electronics performs environmentally friendly recycling using de-manufacturing and asset recovery. Computers, monitors, terminals, printed circuit boards, telephone equipment, TV’s, VCR’s and communications systems are disassembled into component parts. Components of value are sold for reuse, and other parts are sent to certified facilities for metals recovery. All items from the de-manufacturing process are recycled.
Whether you have 10 pieces or 10,000 pieces, GLE will send our fully insured team of removal specialists with all the tools needed to palletize, remove and transport your equipment. We provide a nationwide pickup service to help accommodate all of your organization’s branches. When material is back at one of our facilities, it will be inventoried, and all company identification and/or sensitive information will be removed and destroyed. A Certificate of Recycle/Reuse will be issued for each shipment.

It is standard that all data bearing material will undergo a Department of Defense memory overwrite, should it be re-marketed. Scrap Metal

Great Lakes Electronics provides full service scrap metal recycling. We have a comprehensive range of services to meet your needs. We can assist with metallurgical analysis, proper scrap handling and storage.

Hard Drive Shredding

Great Lakes Electronics removes any worry you have about disposing of old hard drives and the data they contain.We offer complete destruction of all drives with our in-house shredder. This amazing machine actually grinds and chops the drive into small pieces making it impossible to recover any data.Great Lakes Electronics issues Certificates of Destruction and Certificates of Data Deletion upon request for any products we handle. We can also record the shredding of your drives so you can watch YOUR drives being destroyed.

Inventory

Great Lakes inventory management tracks assets from shipment into our facility through data wiping and destruction, and tracks where the unit is sent, be it recycling or redeployment. This extensive system allows us to provide you with reports and audits as necessary.Basic documentation provided to each customer includes invoice and settlement summary, other documentations such as asset report including of each items’ make, model and serial number and a Certificate of Recycling or Data destruction by serial number.
