These items contain hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and other heavy metals not suitable for our landfills. Our audited recycling process ensures complete recycling and data destruction every time.We are providing you a one point of contact for all of your computer and electronic waste (e-waste) recycling/disposal needs. After we break down materials to commodity form, your electronic waste is processed through a network of premier recycling partners that are ISO Certified among other industry-specific certifications. We would like to thank all corporate, educational, non-profit, general public, and government clients that helped us recycle over 15.75 million pounds of electronics last year! Together we are making the world a better place.

In 2016, we are projected to recycle over 18 million pounds of electronic waste. Our 55,000 square foot Indianapolis processing facility receives and processes semi truck loads of electronics each and every day from customers across the nation.

Green Wave Computer Recycling holds itself to a high standard in terms of data security, environmentally compliant recycling practices, social responsibility, and recovering value through reuse. All of these goals fall in line with a voluntary e-waste recycling standard known as R2, which was developed by several industry stakeholders in conjunction with the United States EPA and requires third party audits of our facility, process, and procedures.

When you partner with Green Wave, you can rest assured that your equipment will be processed according to the industry's best practices, which means that your equipment will not end up in landfills or exported to unapproved toxic dumps in developing countries. We utilize a network of R2-approved partners along with many, ISO 9001 certified and ISO 14001 certified partners for any processed scrap material that leaves our facility. To reduce liability and protect your company's reputation, make sure you're using an R2 certified recycling partner like us.

Environmental, Health & Safety Policy

Green Wave Computer Recycling is committed to following the requirements of ISO 14001: 2004, OHSAS 18001: 2007 and the R2: 2013 Standard and to maintain conformance to the requirements of our EH&S management system. We are equally committed to meet or exceed our customer requirements, to continually improve our processes, to prevent pollution and work place injuries, and to maintain compliance with relevant environmental, Occupational Health and Safety and data security legislation and regulations. The goal of Green Wave Computer Recycling’s operation is to have a positive impact on the environment through responsible recycling practices that includes the conservation of metals, plastic and other non-renewable resources. Consistent with these core operations, it is Green Wave Computer Recycling’s overall goal to accomplish our business objectives while meeting and exceeding the environmental and health & safety expectations of our management, employees, customers, suppliers and regulators.

We will continually improve our systems while striving to minimize adverse impacts on the environment by managing used and end-of-life electronic equipment, components and materials – with respect to both on-site activities and the selection of downstream vendors - using a “reuse, recover, dispose” hierarchy of responsible management strategies.

Public Drop-Off at Green Wave

We have public drop off days where you can bring your old computers, laptops, televisions, and other electronic equipment to our facility. Items dropped off at our location on public drop off days are processed in the exact same secure, process that we use for our business and government clients. We destroy all your personal data.

Data Security

After the computer and electronic items leave your company or organization’s facility or are dropped off at our facility, all liabilities are transferred to Green Wave Computer Recycling. When the items arrive at our facility, each data containing item is scanned into our database (can be done at your location before physical removal) to ensure the recycling and data destruction process is tracked. The hard drives are pulled from the computers and physically destroyed (which can also be done onsite at your facility) to disable any information from being recovered. The hard drives are then thrown into a larger container to be shredded for metal recovery. We process cell phones, MP3 players, copy machines, networking equipment, and other data containing devices in the same manner.

Asset tags and company ID tags are removed from devices to ensure that your company or organization’s identity is unknown to our recycling partners who refine the plastics and metals. This brings peace of mind for clients whom want to remain anonymous. This is one of the many ways that Green Wave Computer Recycling is able to better serve clients.Once the recycling process is completed, a 'Data Destruction & Proper Recycling Document' is mailed to you to keep on file.We know once you experience the Green Wave process you will NEVER want to switch to another company for the proper disposal of your items. We are a privately held (owner operated) business that constantly attempts to improve our recycling flow process to better service our existing customers and future customers.

Product Destruction & Shredding

Green Wave can provide customers with an economical, secure, and compliant destruction process for any type of product. We protect our customers’ liability by ensuring that products are completely destroyed and properly recycled. Similar to our electronics destruction process, we provide you a Data Destruction & Proper Recycling Document that details the items that we destroyed and recycled.Whether you require safe disposal and destruction of a recalled product to protect a trademark, or destruction of obsolete products, we can provide you with the documentation and comfort knowing your products will not end up in the wrong hands.

Recycling Process

Green Wave Computer Recycling is not just a collector of electronics, but also a recycler of electronics, which means that we dismantle or shred electronic items down to the commodity grade components for further processing. The dismantling and shredding process produces various types of plastics, metals, precious metals, and other material that are then baled, combined, and/or flattened to be sent off for further processing in the United States or in Europe. For example, the plastic cases from computer monitors or printers are ground into small pieces to be utilized in the manufacturing of new products. The steel is shredded, melted, and then made into new steel, which may end being used to manufacture your new car or furniture.

We do not export any materials to be dismantled. We operate a dismantling line in our 55,000 square foot facility that processes various materials, five days a week.We adhere to a 0% landfill policy for focus materials. We strive to achieve this policy by adhering to the various regulations set for in the R2 Standard as well as other relevant ISO certifications. We even recycle the cardboard, paper, aluminum pop cans, and pallets that we use in our facility!
