History

Astro Industries, formerly Bayou Plastics, started as a small plastics recycling company in Northeast Louisiana and has been in business for over 18 years. We’ve since expanded our service offerings to include plastic compounding for domestic and foreign markets.

WHAT WE PROCESS

We recycle multiple grades of Polyethylene and Polypropylene, and market repro and regrinds for domestic and export markets. We can pick up as little as 5,000 lbs, and take mixed forms of plastics on the same truck. We also provide balers upon approval, toll services and letters of destruction. We currently pick up in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Kentucky.

POST CONSUMER RECYCLABLES (PCR)

Post Consumer Recyclables (PCR) includes post industrial as well as post consumer streams of detergent bottles, water bottles, plastic containers, household cleaning bottles, butter tubs, shampoo bottles, bleach containers, and other post consumer plastic materials. PCR carries a low risk of leaking into the product and can readily be recycled into many different products.

HIGH-DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE)

High-Density Polyethylene is used in milk jugs, juice bottles, shampoo bottles, bleach, detergent and household cleaning bottles as well as some trash bags, shopping bags, cereal liners, butter tubs and yogurt tubs.

LOW-DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (LDPE)

Low-Density Polyethylene resins are used most often in making food packaging. LDPE is used to make squeezable ketchup bottles, jelly bottles, mustard bottles and other squeezable bottles. It is also used to make bread bags, frozen food bags and packaging, bakery bags, candy bags, ice bags, textile bags, mattress bags, dry cleaning and shopping bags, furniture, carpet and totes.

POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE - (PETE)

Polyenylene Terephthalate is used to make soft drink bottles, water bottles, mouthwash bottles and beer bottles. It is also used in the following containers: peanut butter, salad dressing and vegetable oil containers as well as oven safe food trays.
