Suburban Miners
3611 S. Palo Verde Rd. Suite 101, Tucson, Arizona, United States
Suburban Miners is an eWaste recycling facility where everything is done by hand rather than large machinery using large amounts of fossil fuels. We are a Tucson family owned business that began recycling in 2007. It is now our 9th year and we are growing very fast. Our comprehensive no cost recycling programs have been a big hit and we are now proud to be servicing thousands of customers from all over Arizona.Recycling Made Easy! We provide comprehensive no cost sustainable recycling programs for Government/Military, Institutions, School Districts, Universities, Businesses and HOAs. We also provide a free drop off location for business and residential recycling. Pickup service is also available.
Our Services
Suburban Miners is an e-waste recycling specialist focused on 100% recovery and recycling programs for business, corporate and government/military clients. Suburban Miners also operates a free public drop off service for Tucson residential customers. Residential customers may donate any metal, wire or electronic/computer equipment and be ensured that we will recycle or place into re-use 100% of the items donated to us.
Data Destruction
Suburban Miners has made a substantial investment to provide our valued clients a top of the line hard drive shredding service. We provide data destruction and electronic recycling services in strict adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Through an unbroken chain of custody, our procedures and documentation guarantee absolute data security while ensuring full compliance with various federal regulations. We have a proprietary certified documention service that can scan hard drive bar codes and asset tags, automatically enter them into a database and print certificates of destruction merged with your product ids for your records.
Suburban Miners's Data Reinspect procedure gives Suburban Miner's clients an additional level of security. All equipment received at our facility is carefully inspected for the presence of data-containing media. If media not previously identified by the client is located, we immediately notify our point of contact with a complete description of the media, and upon direction, either return or destroy the media.
RE-USE Before RE-CYCLE
Suburban Miners believes in re-use over recycling. If an item has any market value at all and is still in working condition, or can be repaired easily, we strive to place it back into use rather than destroy it for recycling. With that in mind we sell items through Ebay and other outlets in bulk form.
No Landfill Policy
Our goal is to exceed U.S. EPA standards for solid waste recycling, and we proudly adhere to a no-landfill policy for eWaste. We are also against illegal exporting of eWaste and strive to work with companies who share in our philosophy.Suburban Miners complies with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations, including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
Our Mission
We strive to provide the highest quality service and best value to our clients by providing unique ways to strengthen our clients bottom line while meeting global recycling standards. We strive to design a better way to recycle that truly is better for the environment. We strive to position our business in a way that makes us resistant to negative external economic conditions and we strive to raise the standards in recycling, to be a better steward of the earth and our environment, and encourage others to follow our lead.

Our Recycling Process:
Suburban Miners simply does it better. We have made a substantial financial investment in education, training and equipment to create a better way to recycle and re-use, one that makes a lot of common sense and is sustainable over the long haul. When you bring your recyclable materials to Suburban Miners main facility or to one of our quick drop locations, you will have the peace of mind knowing that your items go through the following processes and procedures:
Unless you speak with one of our representatives and have a special request, this is what happens after you drop off your items for recycling:
- #1. Security Inspection: All items are carefully inspected initially for data containing disks, media and hard drives. All found items are physically removed from computers and electronics and placed into a gaylord located inside a secure locked cage. This ensures physical separation from any on site visitors and protects your data from theft. Once this gaylord fills up, these items are automatically shredded on our ameri-shred hard drive and disk shredding equipment. Your drives are protected in the meantime by our alarm system and our video monitoring security system. Once your hard drives are shredded the shredded materials are then recycled to recover the metals and sold back to industry buyers within the states.
- #2. Re-Use: All items are then inspected for resale value. If any whole item has any resale value it is sorted and separated and placed into our resale supply chain. We resell these items to industry suppliers, repair houses, artists, contractors and through our ebay store. From time to time we also hold local auctions to place items back into the marketplace.
- #3. Dismantling for re-use: Items containing resalable items within them are further dismantled and redeployed back into the marketplace for re-use.
- #4. Remanufacturing: Many times we can take items from multiple donations and combine them to build or repair a broken item. Laptop computers are a good example of how we do this. We stockpile non working laptops and combine multiple broken units until a new working unit emerges from the parts. We do this whenever we can and where it makes economic sense. We also sell broken items as-is through our Ebay store for parts and through this we can place many things back into the marketplace that you might not have otherwise thought possible.
- #5. Recycling: Anything left without a resale value is then dismantled, sorted and placed into our recycling bins for further recycling. We then sell each commodity to approved and vetted buyers working within the United States.
Pick up service:
If you have computers / electronics / metals of any sort and any quantity available for pickup, please contact us for immediate service. Although we cannot pay you for your metal and computer / electronic items while picking up at your residence, we can guarantee a quick and safe service and assure you that your electronics will be recycled according to strict federal guidelines. In some cases we charge a fee for residential pickups. Please call ahead to make an appointment and discuss potential fees if any.
* For larger quantities a free on site inspection can be scheduled if required. We can provide specialized services such as metal cutting, light demolition, roof top removal, torch work and heavy lifting. We also provide a complete liquidation service for businesses closing down or relocating to a new facility.
** For smaller quantities we ask you to provide us a window of opportunity where we can pick up your recyclable materials while we are already in the area. This helps us to conserve fuel and costs. In most cases we can pick up small quantities within the first 7 days. Most electronics get picked up the same day. A good rule of thumb is that the further away from central Tucson you reside and the smaller the quantity you have the longer it may take. On rare occasion it makes no economic sense to recover recyclable materials. For instance driving 50 miles for one computer is a lose/lose situation.
