A Partner You Can Trust
R3Ewaste has safeguarded our clients’ corporate, environmental compliance and complete brand protection since 2002. We have established a reputation for quality and secure processing of client materials. We offer a robust Quality Management and Environmental Management System along with a complete Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) System. Security is also a critical part of our offering. All of our materials are managed in secure facilities and processed through R3EWaste's certified and audited waste stream.
We are also very aware that in today’s environmentally conscious world it is important for companies to be compliant with all new regulations. Do you know where your excess, obsolete or unwanted materials end up at their end of life? We offer a host of services for many clients that provide solid financial returns and total brand protection. These include full recovery, re-use and re-sale of products and/or full destruction and responsible end to end recycling. R3Ewaste maximizes the recovery value of each asset and component. Our industry leading processes are compliant with all local, state & federal regulations.
Our experience speaks for itself and we know what it takes to be a leader. We also take data destruction seriously! Please don't remove your hard drive prior to recycling with us. A hard drive can be destroyed in a number of different ways but that does not mean that the data has been destroyed. You want the security of knowing that this very important function is done properly so allow us to perform that process for you. We will issue a Certificate of Data Destruction with our guarantee that your data is no longer accessible.Typically, companies wishing to dispose of scrap computers would be charged for collection and recycling. This is never required by R3Ewaste.
R3Ewaste will pick up from your location absolutely all of your computer waste. We routinely have trucks picking up from all cities in the Phoenix metro region so whether you are in Scottsdale or Glendale, Mesa or Tempe, Avondale or Paradise Valley, we will have a truck in your area soon! There is no charge for collection and no recycling charge unless for Televisions. We will make our money through the processing of the items into their raw materials or the sales of useable parts. The one exception is the old style CRT Monitors and Televisions - call us and we'll explain more.
Computer recycling
Computers (and electronics in general) contain quite a lot of what is referred to as 'Focus Materials'. In short, these are the polluting pieces. Of course most things can be polluting if just discarded; think plastic water bottles in the ocean but Focus Materials are different because they are toxic.
The R2 (Responsible Recycling) standard places special emphasis on Focus Materials. These include batteries, circuit boards, lead or mercury containing items and toner powder. These have to be shipped to specialist and accredited 'downstream vendors'. All of our vendors have themselves been audited to the R2 standards as have their downstream vendors.R3Ewaste specializes in refurbishing computers which meet our strict standards. Ones that fail this standard have all focus material removed and are then shipped to a named R2 certified downstream vendor. They will shred the units and separate the copper, steel, plastic and other commodities.
Electronics Recycling
Electronics recycling is extremely complex. There are literally hundreds of thousands of different devices and we get a lot of e-waste in on a daily basis. The first step is to weigh everything and identify where it comes from. We need the weight for audit purposes and filing to various agencies. This (and all warehouse operations) is tracked by our proprietary web based Inventory Management System (IMS) which has been developed and enhanced over 8 years. The next step is sorting and we have to sort through sometimes 20 tons of material in a single day. The priority at this stage is identifying and separating all items which may contain hard drives. EVERY hard drive that comes into our warehouse is data-wiped or drilled. So, once identified, these units are moved to an area where the drives are extracted and units suitable for refurbishment are initially tested. Any batteries are removed and sent for further processing. When all is done, everything we recieve is either refurbished, broken down into raw materials or sent to a specialist recycler. Regardless of what category, anything that leaves our warehouse that is not fully refurbished goes to a verified downstream vendor who is certified to the R2 standard.
Pickup Details
We wish to encourage everyone to recycle their used electronics and so we offer a pickup service. This is always free for businesses and mainly free for residential customers subject to a few conditions.I'm sure you understand that if we sent a truck and a driver half way across the Valley to pick up an old printer we would very quickly be out of business. The raw material value in a typical printer is around 4 cents per pound - so around $0.30 for an average 8 Lb deskjet.
So the first thing we ask is that if you do request a pickup please accumulate as much as you can; ask your neighbours and friends if they have any old electronics lying around and include these items too. Remember, the more you collect the more it benefits Phoenix Childrens Hospital. We need to collect around 100 Lbs (excluding Televisions and the old CRT type monitors) from each pickup to break even and as electronics are pretty heavy that is actually not a lot of stuff.
If you don't have 100 Lbs we'll still come out but we ask that you contribute $10 towards the pickup costs - about the same as a movie ticket and not a lot considering the convenience and the time you will save. Now a little about Televisions and the old style CRT monitors. These are some of the only items we have to charge for because we have to painstaking dismantle these and send the seriously polluting parts to other specialist recyclers. Flat screen TV's contain rows of extremely fragile bulbs containing lots of Mercury. These we send to a Mercury processor and this is very expensive. But we are perhaps the only recycler in the Valley that still processes these items.
Printers are the other category we have to charge for., a whopping $5.00 per printer. This is because the toner and ink cartridges are considered 'Focus' materials and they too have to be sent to specialist recyclers.Lastly, the quickest and most reliable way to get on the schedule is to use our online pickup request form. If you use this you'll go straight into our system and usually get a call by our scheduling department within 24 hours to arrange a date and a time for a pickup.
