We specialize in end-of-life recycling and data destruction for all types of electronic equipment. Our goal is to provide consumers, business of all sizes, and institutions a secure, convenient, and environmentally responsible way to handle electronic waste.We offer free local pick-up in Kalamazoo and surrounding communities including Portage, Plainwell, Texas Corners, Mattawan, Richland, Schoolcraft, Vicksburg and Galesburg.

We also offer pick-ups for a fee in surrounding counties and communities including Battle Creek, Marshall, PawPaw, Three Rivers, Hastings, and Dowagiac. More and more electronic products that contain heavy metals are ending up in our landfills. Toxins from these products affect wildlife and can get into our water supply, poisoning the water we drink.Recycling these millions of tons of electronic waste instead:

Approximately 200,000,000 tons of solid waste are generated annually in the United States, and more than one percent of that waste is classified as computer and/or electronic equipment. Of this 2,000,000 tons, an estimated 134,000 tons is recycled. While electronic waste is only a small percentage of the total solid waste collected, it accounts for about 70% of the heavy metals that end up in our landfills.

A single color monitor alone can contain four to eight pounds of lead and measurable amounts of cadmium, mercury and other toxic metals.Emerald recycles every part of your electronic assets, by demanufactuing the products, and separating metals, plastics, glass and circuitry. Each component part is recycled through a separate commodity stream and ends up being used in the manufacture of new products.

Electronic Recycling

We accept computers, displays and computer peripherals, cell phones, cords and cable, industrial equipment, office equipment, small household appliances, and most other items with a battery or power cord.We do not accept televisions or large household appliances at this time. All items we collect are recycled with a zero landfill and zero export policy.

Data Destruction

We provide data destruction for data on digital media including computer hard drives (HDDs), CDs, DVDs, floppy disks, jump drives, copy machine memory, printer memory and cell phone memory.Stop by our office during our posted office hours to shred your HDD or other digital media in our shredding machine.If you have a large quantity of media to shred, mobile digital media shredding is also available. We provide the following Asset Management Services:

• Logistical/Inventory Support - Coordination of pick-up of electronic equipment, transportation of items to our office for testing auditing and redistribution.
• Testing, Auditing and Tracking - Determination of the usefulness of each item and capturing tracking information. Removal of asset tags.
• Data Security - Destruction of sensitive data.
• Valuation Process - Determination of current market conditions and identification of equipment that can be resold at a reasonable price.
• Administration of Employee Purchase Programs - Administration of a program to make your used equipment available to your employees.
• Recycling - De-manufacturing and environmentally responsible recycling of end-of-life electronic equipment.
• Management and Technical Support - Emerald will provide management and technical advice regarding all of the elements described above. Emerald will manage the entire process!
