Our company has always taken pride in keeping the finest fleet of trucks and equipment on the street. Our crews are courteous and take individual interest in our customers. It is not uncommon for us to hear from customers who thank us for the little things our crews do in completing their rounds.
Because we are a family business with your family's interests at heart, we assign the same crews to the routes on a regular basis. This assures better service because the same two guys pick up your refuse on a regular basis. They get to know the trash habits of our customers. We've heard often from customers who say they can set thier clocks by the arrival of the garbage man.
Our crews start each day as early as is allowed by local ordinance so that we can clear the streets of trash as early as possible.

Since The Illinois Times printed 'The Best of Springfield' on July 11, 1991 in which they spotlighted approximately thirty different businesses of the Springfield community, Lake Area Disposal has made many improvements. This includes the upgrading of our fleet of trucks, expanding our recycling efforts, and improving our billing and computer systems. All of these improvements help our customers and that is what counts. We found it interesting when reviewing the archive of the Illinois Times special edition issue that out of the approximately 30 businesses spotlighted in the paper over fifty percent of those businesses no longer operate in Springfield. Lake Area Disposal is proud of its history and heritage in the Springfield area. Our longevity is a testiment to our strength as a company. We want to thank all of our loyal customers. History

Lake Area Disposal Service was founded in 1932 by the Donald E. Crenshaw Sr. family.
More than eight decades later Lake Area Disposal Service is Springfield and Sangamon Countys oldest, as well largest locally-owned waste disposal service, and is still operated by the Crenshaw family.
Since its inception during the Great Depression, Lake Area has grown and prospered because it adheres to the principles adopted by the Crenshaw family through five generations.
First, we believe our customers are our most important asset. As Sangamon Countys oldest surviving waste hauler, we emphasize service as the option that sets us apart from our competition. After all, Service is part of our company name.
Second, we understand that Lake Area Disposal is part of the Springfield and Sangamon County community. You wont find us listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and you wont find us sponsoring PGA golf tournaments. Where you will find us is where you need us  right here in Sangamon County.
Were proud of our local heritage. Just like our neighbors here in Sangamon County, we prosper because of hard work and service to our customers. Our customers are not just clients; our customers are neighbors. All of us have a stake in the health, prosperity and welfare of our community.
Because we are literally a family that has extended our bloodlines through our staff, many of our employees have worked here for 20, 30 years and more. That kind of loyalty among our employees is extended to our customers. When our employees service your disposal needs, they have a connection to the customer that the multi-national companies simply cant match.
That commitment has served us well. When the City of Springfield shifted waste disposal service from a city agency to the private sector, more than two dozen local companies picked up Springfield residential trash. Lake Area Disposal Service is the last remaining hauler, more than 50 years later.
