Here at Paine's, it's about serving the needs of people, businesses, and communities. We believe in doing the right thing for the environment, and delivering it through friendly service, innovative technologies, and giving back to the community. Since 1929, we've grown through four generations to care for the needs of over 26 cities and towns throughout Greater Hartford and Northwestern Connecticut.
On the outside, recycling and disposal services all tend to look the same. But take a closer look inside the Paine's business to find the real differences. You will see people who are friendly, accessible, and responsive. And you will find services that are reliable, ethical, and environmentally conscious. We have a genuine concern for our customers, and for the communities where we live and work.We are constantly implementing innovative ways to further improve the quality and environmental friendliness of our services. Paine's was the first in Connecticut to offer automated pick-up, we converted our entire fleet of trucks to biodiesel, we use a waste-oil furnace to heat our building, and we buy recycled products whenever we can.
Founded by Albert Paine in 1929, we've served local residents, towns, businesses, and industries for four generations. Paine's has grown through the years, but we have consistently believed everyone should receive friendly, dependable, and quality service – Because Service Matters.
Automated Weekly Curbside Pickup
Paine’s offers a wide range of convenient and affordable residential services. The one you’re probably most familiar with is automated weekly curbside pickup. Automated pickup is the most advanced collection system available today. Paine’s was the first in Connecticut to implement this system. You’ve probably seen our trucks picking up the whole barrel and emptying its contents into the top of the truck. This has been a great back saver for our employees, and a huge hit with kids of all ages on our routes.Paine’s provides the large, dark green barrels with the handle and wheels. Once properly balanced on the wheels, the barrels can be moved easily, even with a lot of weight in them.
Recycling
The barrels that you see next to the trash barrels on pickup day are for recycling. It’s mostly for certain types of glass, metal, plastic, newpaper, and cardboard. Recycling is good for the environment, and relieves you from having to take it somewhere yourself. In many towns however, you can take standard recycling items to a Recycling & Bulky Waste transfer station yourself. Please call your town to find out the location and cost for specific items.
Hazardous Waste
Household hazardous waste, such as paint and motor oil poses a significant threat to the environment. Unfortunately, they can't be placed in your weekly collection barrel. Local, state, and federal regulations require that all hazardous waste be properly disposed of. Consult your city or town for collection sites and dates in your area.
Roll-Off Containers
Commercial roll-off containers are an ideal solution for businesses and developments. We have a variety of sizes: 6, 12, 20, and 30 yard capacity. The smallest size container, 6 yards, is top loading only, but the larger containers, larger than 6 yards, all have a large swing door that opens the entire back to make loading easier. We can also provide an integrated compactor to decrease the volume of material.
