Our Mission
Our Mission is to contribute significant effort in maintaining a sustainable environment. Like the communities we serve, we are equally as concerned for the preservation of our diminishing resources. We recognize that ecological stewardship relies upon the actions we undertake and the services we provide to others. We will provide to our customers the highest level of service by understanding their recycling needs through courteous interactions and by continually educating ourselves. We will strive to be part of the solution to stopping material theft. In all our efforts we strive to provide quality service, competitive prices in a safe and friendly environment.
Our Commitment
Our commitment to recycling and the environment began in 1988. Opening its doors in Blue Island, Illinois, Metro Recycling set out on a mission to improve not only the community, but also the environment. Over the next 24 years, Metro Recycling expanded by opening more recycling locations in Northwest Indiana.
Today, Metro is still striving to help the community. Now with four recycling locations in the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area, we are dedicated to providing quality service while helping maintain a sustainable environment. At Metro, we believe that taking care of the environment involves the whole community. Metro works hard to lessen our impact on the world by making scrap metal, paper and plastic easier to recycle and more profitable for the consumer.
Our strong commitment to our customers and the environment will continue to be evident in every aspect of our business. Our customers can count on receiving quality service, competitive prices and a friendly atmosphere at Metro.
Community Support
Opportunity Enterprises
Opportunity Enterprises or OE, began in 1967. OE started with ten children in the tiny basement of a Valparaiso church. Since then OE has grown into an organization that changes the lives of thousands of individuals with disabilities throughout Northwest Indiana. Metro Recycling recognizes the importance of an organization such as OE in the Valparaiso community. We are proud to support OE and anyone wishing to drop off their paper recycling may do so at Metro Recycling in Valparaiso on behalf of OE. Donations will be given to OE and their Secure Shred company. Customers may also donate any or all of their metal recycling proceeds to help support Opportunity Enterprises. For more information about OE and their mission visit www.oppent.org.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976. Today, Habitat for Humanity is a true world leader in addressing the issues of poverty housing. Through the work of Habitat, community groups and others have joined together to successfully tackle a significant problem-decent housing for all. Habitat has helped build or repair more than 600,000 houses and served more than 3 million people around the world. Metro supports their cause by allowing customers to donate some or all of their metal recycling proceeds to help support Habitat for Humanity in Griffith, Indiana.
