C&D Recycling is a Northbrook-based family-owned and operated recycling center. We are the premier Construction and Demolition Recycling Center on the North Shore and one of the newest recycling facility in the State of Illinois. Built in 2007, C&D Recycling has world class machinery to meet your recycling needs.Co-owners Nancy Hirsch, Larry Hirsch, and Sam Sciarretta provide personalized service and go that extra mile for each and every customer. We offer convenient hours of operation, return phone calls promptly, and take pride in the work we do to help the environment.Our sister company is Active Disposal Company. We work hand-in-hand with our dumpster container company to ensure that construction and demolition debris is recycled properly.

Our goal is to work with our customers and divert :

• Construction and demolition materials from land fills.
• Determine which recycling resources can go back to the manufacturing process.
• Send usable materials to the appropriate locations.

As a licensed recycling center, our top priority is to recover at least 75 percent of materials generated from construction and demolition projects and return these commodities to their “Highest Best Use”. With diminishing landfill space and depletion of natural resources, recycling is the first and best alternative to landfill disposal for construction and demolition waste management.

Dump     Sort    Recycle

Dumpster containers are delivered to construction and demolition sites. They are filled with construction and demolition debris. The roll-offs are brought to C&D Recycling and our material recovery facility (MRF) in Northbrook where the load is weighed.Construction and demolition debris is dumped onto our tipping floor at our state-of-the-art recycling center for sorting and recycling.The materials are loaded onto conveyer belts. The debris is sorted in our fully automated recycling center.

• Wood can be processed into mulch, compost, or cover for wildlife habitats and raw materials for chipboard and fuel
• Concrete, stone, brick, and dirt is crushed into different sizes and reused for roads, airports, drainage media, embankments, and pavers
• Asphalt shingles are ground and recycled into hot-mix Asphalt for road base
• Metal is melted and reformed into new products
• Cardboard is recycled into new cardboard
• Plastic is melted and recycled into new plastic products
• Electronic waste is sent out to our e-waste partner for proper destruction and disposal of electronics also providing appropriate documentation according to state and federal laws
