Opened in 1985 by Patrick Farrell Sr., the scrap metal recycling facility was “green” long before protecting Mother Earth became the focus it is today. In 1976, Pat began his own business, Car Crusher. Then in 1986 Pat started Kalamazoo Metal Recycling which continues to be a family business today. The family-owned and operated business shreds 120,000 tons of metal per year, the majority of which is reused in new car, appliance and consumer goods manufacturing.  It’s a full-circle process that breathes new life into scraps that would otherwise be deposited in landfills.
