Valley Recycling

Valley Recycling has been working for over 20 years to help keep the Flathead beautiful by diverting as much material as possible from going into the County Landfill.In the last 7 years alone we have diverted close to 30,000 tons of recycled material.
In 2005, Valley Recycling, with the help of Evergreen Disposal and the Flathead Valley, reduced the amount of refuse going into the Flathead County Solid Waste Facility (County Landfill) by a total of 5.8 million pounds of recycled goods. In 2006 that number increased to 7.5 million pounds of material. In 2007 we were up again; 8.1 million total pounds of material was recycled. In 2008 we climbed to 8.7 million pounds of material. In 2009 the total tons shipped dropped to 7.5 million pounds, probably due to the economy. In 2010 we dropped again to 6.7 million pounds of material diverted from the landfill. In 2011 we increased and diverted 7.3 million pounds, and in 2012 we diverted 7.7 million pounds from the landfill. In 2013, we recycled 7.8 million pounds of recycle material.Our baler runs 5 days a week, 11 hours a day, compressing cardboard, paper, and plastics into compact shipping units. Valley Recycling, with the help of the people of the Flathead Valley and Evergreen Disposal, has exceeded it's projections every year from 2005 through 2010.
From the staff at Valley Recycling and Evergreen Disposal we thank you.We are always researching new ways and items to recycle so that we can further decrease the volume of waste being deposited in the County Landfill. Inevitably we will run out of space at the landfill. At which point we would have two options;
- Use up more of Flathead County's limited and pristine natural resources and money to create a new landfill site.
- Ship our garbage (at large costs) to another landfill outside of the county.
