In 1989, Fine Metals Corporation was established in Ashland, Virginia to provide specialty metal products to a variety of industries.  Our products include high purity metal and metal alloys in the form of wires, rods, plates and foils.

The Early Years

The roots of Fine Metals Corporation began in 1936 in Chicago, in a patent company then known as the Chicago Development Corporation. In 1946 the Chicago Development Corporation moved to Washington, D.C. It was in Washington that the company began its work in highly specialized metallurgical research. In 1964 Colby Goodloe, Sr. became President of Chicago Development Corporation and moved the company to Ashland, Virginia. In the initial days, the now manufacturing company had only three employees-Colby and two of his sons, Tom and Ray.  Customers of the company were manufacturers looking for a reliable source of precious metals, where quantity was not the primary consideration. Chicago Development fit the bill.

The Second Generation

In 1989, Tom and Ray Goodloe resigned from the Chicago Development Company and formed Fine Metals Corporation. The Company delivered non-standard sizes, shapes and forms of such things as strip, sheet, foil, rod, extruded wires, targets, starter sources, ingots, and pellets of high purity elements as well as standard and non-standard alloys. The Company continues to deliver these fine products around the world from its expanded facilities in Ashland, Virginia.

Our Mission

The mission of our business is to deliver products that exceed industry standards in the specialty metals market.  We take pride in providing specialized solutions, regardless of quantity, designed to meet the needs of each customer. We intend to fulfill this mission by giving extra effort to superior workmanship and customer service.  It is our intention that Fine Metals Corporation will be a major supplier to the semi-conductor and defense industries, as well as a provider of unique metals for research and development for colleges and universities.
