Our Story
In the Beginning:
Hallmark Metals, formerly TIN Metals, was originally founded in Rhode Island in 1960 to provide metals to the jewelry capital of the world.
In 1986, Steve Kaplan joined the company as a new partner. While TIN excelled in manufacturing alloys, Steve’s expertise was in selling them. He had been working in the metal and chemical industry for half a decade and had recently started running a sales and distribution business with his father, Jerry.
Steve and his father soon recognized that partnering with a manufacturing company was the key to continuing to grow their business. TIN Metals, on the other hand, was searching for someone to take the helm managing the sale and distribution of their products. The result? A fortuitous partnership gave birth to what is now a leading metal manufacturing company.
Why Hallmark?
To mark the occasion, TIN Metals was rebranded under its current name, Hallmark Metals. Why Hallmark? Before the greeting card giant was a household name, “hallmark” more commonly referred to an official mark stamped on gold and silver to indicate purity and high quality – A fitting tribute for a company that, from the start, was dedicated to creating only the purest, highest-quality alloys in the business.
Now:
Today, Hallmark’s metals still set a benchmark for high-performance alloys. With over 60 years of combined experience among the team, their expertise has lead them to be one of the top metal providers in the business. And their innovation and skill will keep them at the cusp of the industry.
