Ryton / Techtron / PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide)
Finish Plastics | High Performance Plastics
Ryton / Techtron / PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) products offer the broadest resistance to chemicals of any high performance plastic. They have no known solvents below 392°F and are inert to steam, strong bases, fuels and acids. Minimal moisture absorption and a very low coefficient of linear thermal expansion along with stress-relieving processes make these PPS products ideally suited for precise-tolerance machined components. In addition, PPS products exhibit excellent electrical characteristics and are inherently flame retardant. PPS is ideally suited for plastic components in automotive, electrical, appliance and industrial applications.
PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide) is a high performance thermoplastic that combines good mechanical properties with excellent thermal and chemical resistance properties. Its low ionic impurities make it an excellent choice for applications where high purity is a concern. PPS GF40 (commonly referred to as Ryton) is a glass reinforced material that offers extremely high strength along with excellent chemical resistance properties. There is also bearing grade PPS that is suitable for high load applications. PPS is typically used when because of its outstanding retention of mechanical properties under continuous use up to 338°F (170°C), excellent chemical resistance and good electrical insulator performance. PPS also provides high mechanical strength and strength-to-weight ratio while maintaining dimensional stability over wide variations of temperature and moisture with long-term property retention.

Ideal for structural components in chemically harsh, high-temperature environments.
As one of the most dimensionally stable thermoplastics on the market, PPS/RYTON/ TECHTRON offers superior performance in both highly corrosive and high temperature environments. With broad resistance to a variety of acids, alkalis, ketones and hydrocarbons, the material is suitable for a range of high performance structural components across many industries. PPS/RYTON/TECHTRON is inert to steam, compatible with common sterilization methods, and can be machined to tight tolerances. Applications includes Rotors and rings, Manifolds and valves, Compressor components, Electrical components, Liquid chromatography components, Drill and pump components,Sensor components Industries: Pump, valve and compressor manufacturing, Medical and pharmaceutical, Aircraft and aerospace, Electronics, Semiconductor, Mining. It is ideally suited for plastic components within the automotive and electrical industries.
Grades and Colors
Ryton CM (Compression Molded) PPS
Ryton CM PPS is compression molded. Color is black.
Ryton PPS BG (Bearing Grade)
Ryton PPS BG (Bearing Grade) is an internally lubricated, carbon-fiber reinforced, compression-molded PPS that offers a low coefficient of thermal expansion and uncompromised chemical resistance. It is well suited for thrust or wear applications or when an electrically conductive material is required.
Ryton PPS 40% GF (Glass Fiber)
Ryton PPS GF (Glass Fiber) is PPS reinforced with 40% glass fiber and compression molded. It offers excellent dimensional stability and an exceptional degree of thermal stability, maintaining its strength above 425° F. With its superior chemical and flame resistance and excellent mechanical and electrical properties, Ryton PPS 40% GF provides superior performance over a wide range of critical design requirements. Exceptional processing characteristics enable Ryton PPS 40% GF to meet the needs of demanding, high-precision applications. This product is the most recognized filled grade of PPS. It offers better dimensional stability and thermal performance than unfilled Techtron PPS and maintains its strength to above 425°F (220°C).
Techtron PPS
Techtron PPS is an unfilled and extruded grade of PPS. Unlike reinforced PPS products, Techtron PPS is easily machined to close tolerances. It is the material of choice for structural applications in corrosive environments or as an alternative to PEEK at lower temperatures. Color is off-white.
Techtron HPV PPS
Techtron HPV PPS is an extruded grade of PPS. It offers exceptional wear resistance, load-bearing capabilities and dimensional stability when exposed to chemicals or when used in high-temperature environments. Techtron HPV PPS also has a low coefficient of friction, which allows the product to overcome the disadvantages of virgin PPS caused by a high coefficient of friction and the disadvantages of glass-fiber reinforced PPS. Both can cause premature wear of the counterface in moving-part applications.Techtron HPV exhibits excellent wear resistance and a low coefficient of friction. It overcomes the disadvantages of virgin PPS caused by a high coefficient of friction, and of glass fibre reinforced PPS which can cause premature wear of the counterface in moving-part applications.
