Fluorosint
Finish Plastics | Fluoropolymer Materials
Fluorosint is a proprietary mixture in which synthetically manufactured mica is chemically linked to PolyTetraFluoroEthylene (PTFE). This bonding results in properties not normally attainable in reinforced PTFE. Fluorosint grades offer an excellent combination of low frictional properties and dimensional stability.
Fluorosint offers excellent chemical resistance and continuous use temperature of 500°F (260 °C). Compared with PTFE, it has higher load carrying capability, 1/9 of the deformation under load, and a lower coefficient of thermal expansion. Fluorosintis the most dimensionally stable PTFE-based product. The two grades of Fluorosint, 500 and 207, are FDA approved.
Typical applications include labyrinth seals and shrouds, dishwasher arm bearings, transmission and power-steering seal rings, and valve seats. Fluorosintis produced exclusively by Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products Inc.
Quadrant developed the Fluorosint range of enhanced PTFE materials to fill the performance gaps where unfilled and low-tech filled PTFE based polymers typically underperform. Each Fluorosint material has been developed to excel in specific bearing and seal applications. While each of these materials possess the chemical resistance and compliance of PTFE, each material offers some special benefits that give the designer clear performance advantages.

Grades
Fluorosint 500
Exceptional dimensional stability for precise tolerance control
Fluorosint 500 has nine times greater resistance to deformation under load than unfilled PTFE. Its coefficient of linear thermal expansion comes close to the expansion rate of aluminum and is 1/5 that of PTFE. Because of these properties, fit and clearance problems often can be eliminated. Fluorosint 500 is 1/3 harder than PTFE, has better wear characteristics and maintains low frictional properties. Fluorosint 500 also is nonabrasive to most mating materials. A typical application is abradable seals in turbo machinery where reliable performance in hostile chemical environments is needed. This grade also provides improved performance and service life when used for transmission and power-steering seal rings.
Fluorosint 500 Enhanced PTFE offers an ideal combination of stability and wear resistance for sealing applications where tight dimensional control is required. Fluorosint 500 also greatly reduces the risk of a catastrophic system failure by becoming a sacrificial wear surface. With a deformation under load 9 imes lower than virgin PTFE, Fluorosint 500 allows designers to greatly improve the efficiency of systems without sacrificing the wear resistance and forgiving benefits of PTFE. The synthetic mica developed and manufactured by Quadrant delivers tolerance performance approximating that of aluminum.
Common applications includes split and one-piece seals, valve seats, shrouds, slide bearings, Wear strips, sacrificial, abradable seals, thrust washers.
Fluorosint 207
Lowest Coefficient of Friction of Fluorosint Grades
Fluorosint 207 offers unmatched dimensional stability, excellent creep resistance and is white in color, uniquely positioning it to serve FDA-regulated applications. It is non permeable in steam and complies with FDA specification 21 CFR 175.300. Its relative wear rate is 1/20 the rate of PTFE in temperatures below 300° F, making it an excellent choice for aggressive service bearings and bushings. Dishwasher arm bearings made from Fluorosint 207 typically offer a 20-year service life, while valve seats made from the material excel in steamy and hot-air environments where nonpermeability, excellent dimensional stability and a low wear rate are important.
Fluorosint 207 Enhanced PTFE is a significant performance upgrade for any designer using PTFE for applications where temperature resistance, chemical resistance and food contact compliance (Fda and 2002/72/Ec) are all important. Fluorosint 207 lasts far longer than unfilled PtFE in wear applications and has a very low coefficient of friction. Fluorosint 207 works well against most mating surfaces.
Common applications includes seals, mixers, Pumps, appliances, Bearings, valve seats
FluorosintHPV
Most Wear Resistant Fluorosint Grade – outlasts low-tech PTFE Based materials
Fda compliant FluorosinthPv is a high performance bearing grade of Fluorosint – optimized for high PV and very low wear factor. Fluorosint HPV was developed for bearing applications where other, low-tech PTFE formulations exhibit premature wear or simply cannot perform. Fda compliance gives food and pharmaceutical equipment manufacturers new design options and all benefit from its excellent load bearing and wear characteristics.
Common applications includes Bearings, commercial food equipment, Wear guides, high performance seals, thrust washers
Fluorosint MT-01
Ultra-High Performance Grade For Stability at Elevated Temperature
Fluorosint MT-01 is an extreme service grade developed specifically for applications where the benefits of PtFE-based materials also require strength, stiffness and stability. Fluorosint mt-01 delivers high mechanical performance at elevated temperature and as a result is often specified in seat, seal and wear applications where extreme conditions are present.
Common applications includes high temperature seals, linear guides, Wear bands, ovens and dryers
