It is anticipated that the demand for refined zinc will rise 1.8% globally to 13.83 million tonnes in 2024 and then 1.6% globally to 14.04 million tonnes in 2025.
During H1 this year, global zinc mine production recorded modest decline by 3.4% upon comparison with the corresponding period a year before.
The refined zinc metal production during Jan-Apr ‘24 totalled 4.519 million tonnes.
The European mine output is expected to decline further by 7.9% in 2024, after recording a fall by 6.2% during 2023.
The monthly global zinc mine output totalled 1.058 million tonnes in October this year.
The Chinese usage is forecast to recover by 3% this year, following a significant decline in 2022.
The production dipped in Brazil, Greece, Ireland, Kazakhstan and Burkina Faso as well, said ILZSG report.
The modest fall of 3.2% in global usage of refined zinc metal was mainly on account of reduced usage in countries such as China, France, Japan, the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
