Lead Bricks

Finish Metals | Lead

Characteristics

Lead Bricks are produced in a wide range of sizes in the plain and the interlocking styles. The smooth surfaces of Lead Bricks allow for easier decontamination of the shield from radioactive dust. Lead Bricks are normally produced from about 4 per cent Antimony Lead alloy, which is harder than Pure Lead, and more resistant to damage.Any rays that penetrate the first angle of the interlocking joint will actually strike an equal or greater depth of lead than the straight thickness of the wall.

Lead Bricks are a convenient solution to temporary or permanent shielding/storage situations. Easy to stack, unstack and relocate, lead bricks provide maximum protection wherever needed.Lead Bricks that are highly resistant to nuclear radiation. Lead Bricks are a convenient solution to temporary or permanent shielding/storage situations. Easy to stack, unstack and relocate, lead bricks provide maximum protection wherever needed. Produced from the highest quality lead, each brick is standard hardness with a flat, smooth surface, allowing a perfectly flush fit, even at sharp right angles.

Lead bricks are ideal for adding additional shielding to existing rooms and can be used in new construction as a method to reduce wall or ceiling thickness to achieve space savings.

Features : High density, Superior quality, Durable, Easy to stack.

  • Interlocking Lead Bricks make it easy to erect, modify and relocate protective walls and caves of any size. Their V-shaped edges eliminate the danger of leakage, common to all straight-edged bricks. Interlocking Lead Bricks create sturdy walls for a safe, protective enclosure. Provides a more stable and sturdier wall system aiding in the prevention of the wall toppling over. An efficient and tighter fit shielding when stacking or building wall systems.
  • Straight type lead bricks for radiation shielding where interlocking bricks will not suit that application. Can be cut on site in any direction without the fear of losing the interlocking capability.A double row stacked behind the first in a staggered pattern can combat the loss of radiation commonly known to happen through the first row gaps.
  • Machined and Milled lead bricks are used for shielding radiation for industrial and medical uses, as well as for anti-corrosive linings.

Gamma and X-ray radiation shielding, which includes lead bricks, utilizes lead as a form of radiation protection to shield personnel from nuclear radiation. These bricks can effectively attenuate certain kinds of radiation because of its high density and high atomic number. It is important to know that lead bricks is not effective against all types of radiation. High energy electrons (including beta radiation) incident on lead bricks may create bremsstrahlung radiation, which is potentially more dangerous to tissue than the original radiation.

Application

Lead bricks can be used for walls, coves, glove-boxes, hot cells or partitions, the transportation of radioactive materials, and nuclear shielding or simply as ballast weight.

Lead bricks can be used for shielding in x-ray / imaging facilities, hospitals, nuclear power plants, laboratories, military hospital and weapons facilities, and other places gamma and x-ray radiation exists. Other lead shielding  includes L-block shields, lead aprons, thyroid shields, including lead brick castles (lead brick caves), structures composed of lead bricks, lead sheets, lead foil, lead blankets, lead pigs, and lead-lined drums, leaded drywall, leaded glass, leaded acrylic, rolling lead shields, and other custom lead products.

Lead bricks are typically used in nuclear and radiation therapy applications. However, lead bricks can also be used for radioactive isotope creation, ballast weights and counterbalances.

Interlocking style bricks for maximum protection where the highest level of shielding is required for X-ray Beta and Gamma Shielding. The interlocking feature of these lead bricks eliminates any radiation leakage in the wall. These interlocking lead bricks are offered in sizes that are manageable and easy to stack, and they require no mortar or any other additional shielding materials.
