Perforated Aluminum Sheet
Characteristics
Perforated Aluminum Sheet is a sheet product that has been punched with a wide variety of hole sizes and patterns providing an aesthetic appeal. Perforated aluminum sheet offers savings in weight, passage of light, liquid, sound and air, while providing a decorative or ornamental effect. Perforated aluminum sheets are corrosive resistant and commonly used in interior and exterior design. Perforating can reduce the weight of a piece of metal without affecting its strength too adversely. Perforated metals have greater structural strength than expanded metals of comparable thickness.
The 3003 aluminum perforated sheet with staggered perforations has an unpolished (mill) surface. The 3003 aluminum alloy provides good strength and corrosion resistance, and is lighter weight than steel, copper, and brass.
Perforated metal sheets are created by punching a series of holes in a solid material. The holes are typically round, square, or slotted, but other patterns include hexagonal, Grecian, and cane. Holes are staggered (in parallel diagonal rows) or straight (in parallel vertical and horizontal rows). A sheet’s perforation size, center spacing, and percent open area (ratio of open space to total space in a given area of expanded metal) will all affect the particle size and the amount of light, sound, air, and liquid that can pass through.
Aluminum sheet perforated metal is rust free and free of maintenance all through the working life. Diamond pattern aluminum sheet is slip-resistant and cosmetically appealing for hundreds of decorative applications.
- Specifications: 3003-H14, ASTM B209, QQ-A-250/2
- Finishes: Aluminum sheet has brilliant, high polished, reflective shine or a dull mill finish.
- Workability: Easy to Weld, Cut, and Form with proper equipment
- Mechanical Properties: Non-magnetic, Tensile = 22,000 +/-, Yield = 21,000 +/-
Applications
- Aluminum perforated metal with small perforation patterns are used as filters to purify gases and liquids. Larger perforation patterns are used as machinery guards and protective screens to allow ventilation for motors, engines and electronic equipment. Aluminum perforated metals are used for a variety of uses, including filtration, safety and decorative products.
- Perforated aluminum partitions can be used as physical barriers for automated machinery and other facilities. This is a simple but effective way to protect employees from the dangers presented by this equipment. Panels mounted along the perimeter of a work cell provide 'fool-proof protection' from the hazardous area.
- Perforated aluminum can be used in flooring, wall panels, decoration, metal partitions, security guarding and many other applications. Perforated sheets can be used to benefit in many situations, e.g noise and weight reduction, air control, filtration, security, sifting, machinery guards, enclosures, sign panels as a decorative finish or simply for anti-skid flooring. The varied qualities offered by perforated sheets make them ideal for sorting, facades, ceilings, lamps, shelves, shielding, stairs and many other applications.
Perforated metal is available in a wide range of hole sizes and patterns. The holes can be round, square, rectangular, slotted, or decorative. There are many standard patterns, but custom patterns are also available. ound Holes are the most popular shape,Square Holes may be considered an attractive alternative to round holes in some applications, Hexagonal Holes offer a considerable open area from 79-80% and are used primarily for architectural applications.
