ASTM A36, AISI A-36  Steel Plate Characteristics

ASTM A36, AISI A-36  Steel Plate, also known as Hot Rolled A36 Steel Plate is a structural quality steel plate used for a large variety of general construction and industrial applications. Plate has been defined as a metal sheet with a thickness of .2300' or more; sheet is defined as metal that is thicker than foil and less than .2300'. Due to its higher thickness, plate is used for products that require durability and strength but do not require the lower weight of a thinner metal sheet. A-36 is a structural quality carbon steel used in a variety of general construction applications including; bolted, riveted, or welded construction of bridges and buildings

Specifications: ASTM A36, AISI A-36

Applications: base plates, gussets, liners, road plates, trench covers, etc.

Workability: Easy to Weld, Cut, Form and Machine

Mechanical Properties: Magnetic, Brinell = 112, Tensile = 58,000 +/-,  Yield = 36,000 +/-

ASTM A36 STEEL PLATE Characteristics and Applications

ASTM A36 plate is a low carbon steel that exhibits good strength coupled with formability. It is easy to machine and fabricate and can be securely welded. The steel can be galvanized to provide increased corrosion resistance.A36 plate can be used for a wide range of applications, depending on the thickness and corrosion resistance of the alloy.  Some of the products manufactured using A36 structural steel plate are:Buildings, including pre-fabricated buildings, warehouses, industrial and commercial structures, Cabinets, enclosures and housings Pipe and tubing

AISI A-36/1018 STEEL PLATE Characteristics and Applications

AISI A-36/1018  low carbon steel has a higher manganese content than certain other low carbon steels. It is better for carburized parts since it produces a more uniform case. It also has higher mechanical properties and better machining characteristics. It is a low alloy, low carbon steel, exhibits high strength, high formability and ease of machining. It is easy to weld and produces a secure weld. As a hot-rolled carbon steel, it does not have a smooth surface and is used for products where the surface finish is not critical.
