C1008/1010 HR Steel Sheet.

Finish Metals | Steel

Carbon steel sheet is material produced from coil and is most commonly found in thicknesses less than .180.  Steel retains its original shape and form, and must be treated before or during fabrication to provide the desired flatness.  In addition, different alloys exhibit different properties of hardness, strength, temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. It is used in many diverse applications, including:Architectural and construction framing, structural framing and ductwork Cabinets, enclosures and frames for machinery, medical devices, electronics and more

C1008/1010 HR Steel Sheet characteristics and Applications

(ASTM A1011, A569) Hot Rolled Steel Sheets are the most economical steel sheets available for a wide variety of applications. Hot rolled sheets are produced at elevated temperatures on rolling mills and generates a material that is resistant to work hardening and exhibits reduced levels of deformation residual stress.  Material rolled in the hot rolled condition can require more extensive leveling practices, such as temper passing or stretcher leveling downstream to eliminate coil memory.  In addition, hot-rolling may leave surface imperfections such as scale or pits which require additional finishing for a smooth surface. HR Steel Sheets are easy to weld, form and drill, and has a slight grainy surface. Popular uses for HR Steel Sheet include: automotive panels, tool boxes, hoppers, drip pans, fuel tanks, trailer siding & roofing, etc. Magnetic, Brinell = 95, Tensile = 52,000, Yield = 38,000 (+/-).

Products manufactured using hot rolled sheet include structural parts such as I-beams and H-beams, rails, stampings, automotive and equipment components.

Hot Rolled sheet includes:

  • ASTM A1011 CS Type B
  • ASTM 606 Type 4
  • ASTM 1018 CS Type B
  • ASTM 1018 HSLA GR 50

ASTM A1011 CS Type B Characteristics and Applications

ASTM A1011 CS Type B sheet is a hot-rolled carbon steel alloy sheet that exhibits high strength and high formability. This is capable of being bent at room temperature in any direction through 180° flat on itself without cracking on the outside of the bent portion. Applications involves Agricultural implements, Automotive components and frames, Barrels and drums, Structural parts and frames, General fabrication.

A606 Type 4 SHEET Characteristics and Applications

A606 Type 4 sheet is a High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) steel sheet with improved corrosion resistance when compared to carbon steel. Type 4 has four times the atmospheric corrosion resistance of structural carbon steel. It is weldable, formable, punchable, and machinable using the proper techniques. This product is often used in the unpainted condition as the surface will develop a weathered orange-brown oxide that is resistant to corrosion. In addition, it is 20-30% lighter than carbon steel and is used for applications that require high strength-to-weight ratios. Corten is a trade name associated with this grade. It is used in all types of high stress structural applications including automotive, truck and bus frames, building structural components and cranes and derricks.

ASTM A1018 CS Type B Sheet Characteristics and Applications

ASTM A1018 CS Type B sheet is a basic carbon steel sheet that has high strength and high formability properties.  It is easy to machine and weld, and is used for products where the surface finish is not critical. It is used for fabrication.  Products manufactured using A1018 CS Type B sheet include: Water heaters, Agricultural tools and equipment components, Metal buildings.

A1018 HSLA GR 50 SHEET Characteristics and Applications

A High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) columbium-vanadium steel, ASTM A1018 GR 50 sheet provides a higher yield and tensile strength than ASTM A-36 sheet.  It is used for applications that require a high strength-to-weight ratio material to improve product performance or reduce operating costs.Products that use A1018 GR 50 sheet include structural frames used in construction, metal buildings, water heaters and tanks and supports and frames for vehicles.
