Ferguson Corporation

Based in Calgary, Ferguson has been in operation since 1975 and typically performs the design and installation of curtain wall, skylights, aluminum entrances, structural glass, storefronts, air/vapour barriers, sliding aluminum entrance doors, glass & glazing, and aluminum metal wall panel and cladding systems.  Ferguson has completed projects across western Canada, the US, China and Thailand.

Ferguson has also participated in many non-traditional approaches to construction throughout its career.  Some examples are the design and construction of a 3.0 metre wide by 6.0 metre high invisible door in a curtain wall system in New York City in 1985, the design and installation of a sealed unit glazing systems totally supported on all four sides by adhesive, the design and  installation of granite in a 25 story curtain wall system adhered with silicone, and a pre-stressed cable structure system supporting a two story high glass wall with no other framing.  Ferguson currently holds two patents for curtain wall design and hoisting systems.  Ferguson has received R & D tax rebates from Revenue Canada totalling over one million dollars ($1,000,000).

Ferguson is a favoured glazing trade contractor by most major general contractors and architects in the area because of our understanding of Building Science and our ability to call upon a qualified workforce to meet critical schedules.  Ferguson understands the need for cooperation and working with the general contractors, project managers, architects, and owners.  Our staff includes professional engineers and engineering technologists with 20-25 years in the glazing and curtain wall industry.

Ferguson performs installations with its own forces to ensure proper training, to confirm an understanding of the glazing system and the intricacies of the designs developed by the company's own engineers, and to maintain a constant high level of quality work.

In 2010, Ferguson spent almost 256,000 man hours.  We are capable of meeting any reasonable schedule.  Ferguson has traditionally 'pushed' other trades, including the general contractors.  We are not known for causing delays.  Ferguson understands the financial need for tight schedules to maintain work flow so that no trade is delayed and work is accomplished without work slowdowns.

Ferguson's commitment to safety dates back prior to 1988 when Frank Babienko was the founding chairman of the Alberta Construction Safety Association.  Ferguson's representation on the Calgary Regional Safety Committee continues the commitment to safety, playing an active role at this level. We are proud of the culture within our organization that has developed over the last 20 years and we continue to support the Partners in Injury Reduction and Certificate of Recognition programs, which form the basis for our safety program.  We hold a current Certificate of Recognition from O.H.S. & E., Alberta Labour Partnership Health & Safety.  Our safety manual is available for review if required.
