Dodds Coal Mine is located in central Alberta approximately 90 kilometers southeast of Edmonton. Dodds supplies heating coal for residential, commercial & agricultural applications throughout western Canada. Dodds Coal Mine has been operation at its present since since 2007, and was in opertion at the previous site, 4 miles west, from 1908 to 2007. Since 1956 the Dodds Coal Mine has been operated by the Nordby family, and is currently managed by the third generation of this coal mining family.

We offer subituminous 'C' coal in a variety of sizes. The coal is sold F.O.B. the plant, by the kilogram in any quantity the customer chooses. All coal is trucked from the site, as no rail service is available. The vast majority of our customers use less than 50 tonne of coal per year. Larger operations such as hog and poultry operations and greenhouses may use up to a thousand tonne per year. The new mine site has a permit area of 240 hectares and an mine life expectancy of 40 years.

The coal sold at the mine has the following specifications: 

 BTUs per pound : 8500 to 9000        

Ash Content : Approximately 7%      

Sulphur : less than 0.05%      

Moisture : 20 to 25%
