Company Management

John C Vaught purchased certain assets from A.C. Willams Inc. to form Tri-Cast Ltd in April of 2000. The participants in Tri-Cast Ltd are the Vaught family and minority interests are held by former business associates at Republic Steel.

Prior to purchasing Tri-cast, Mr. Vaught had been a long term employee at Republic Steel and successor companies. He completed the Operations Management Training Program when he joined the company after graduating from Virginia Tech. Mr. Vaught held management positions in operations and in staff roles. He was a member of the team that formed Republic Engineered Steel from the LTV Steel Chapter 11. In 1999 Mr. Vaught left Republic Engineered Steel and formed Chapman Holdings Ltd.

Tri-Cast has continued to re-invent itself since formation. We have modernized and improved the operation in all areas utilizing cash generated from operations to modernize, improve environmental compliance, expand capability, improve quality and enhance worker safety.

It is the mission of Tri-Cast Ltd and its management led by John Vaught Sr. to provide products and services that meet or exceed customer expectations in every aspect. Included in that mission Tri-Cast is the specialty iron foundry that makes specialty job shop products that are too difficult and in small numbers that other foundries do not want to make.

Mr. Vaught takes an active management role at Tri-Cast Ltd as CEO and his over 45 years business experience supports the business.

Our Specializations

Mold Production

Our facility is capable of using an existing pattern or producing a pattern using a print or 3D model. We can also reverse engineer an existing part. Tri-Cast Ltd. has the capability of making repeatable wood patterns or single use foam patterns for cost savings. At our foundry, we can take a drawing and make it into a casting in just a few weeks.

About Squeeze Molds: A squeeze mold is a mold manufactured by a squeeze mold machine. It compresses a sand, clay and water mixture together to make a sand mold. The pattern will be separated from the mold to reuse. The two halves of the mold will be put together along with any cores and then staged for pouring.

Iron Chills for Aluminum & Magnesium Foundries

Tri-Cast produces iron chills for aluminum and magnesium foundries. These chills are required to promote solidification and reduce shrinkage during heat transfer. We’re capable of making iron chills in a multitude of shapes and sizes. We offer quick turnaround and competitive pricing.

Ni-Resist castings

Ni-Resist is an alloy with sufficient nickel to produce an austenitic structure. The iron is relatively soft and chrome is added to produce carbides that make it wear resistant. These grades are austenitic gray cast iron grades that provide good hardness, dampening, and some corrosion resistance. The Ni-Resist irons are high nickel-alloys used to resist acid, caustic and salt solutions.
