History
April 1999 - Local Waste Services is founded by brothers Richard “Rick” and Larry “Chuck” Cattran — along with their father, Larry Cattran and industry investors. With a single, used rear-load truck the brothers provide residential services to subscription customers in Fairfield and Southern Franklin counties of Ohio.
Winter 1999 - By word-of-mouth and excellent service the company grows quickly. LWS is awarded its first exclusive municipal contract in Blendon Township. By the end of the year, LWS moves into their first office located in Franklin county and purchases a Roll-off truck to provide industrial services.
Spring 2002 - After a couple years of rapid growth and earning more municipal contracts, LWS obtains their first commercial customers through a corporate acquisition. Now with front-load vehicles LWS becomes a full-service waste and recycling hauling company.
Spring 2004 - LWS purchases the first 10 acres of its property in Southern Franklin County near High Street and I-270. The once Columbus airport hangers and offices are adapted to facilitate the company’s expansion. Over the next decade LWS becomes established as Central Ohio’s premier waste and recycling hauler.
Summer 2014 - LWS invests in its efforts to providing environmentally friendly services while remaining cost effective. The first of many vehicles powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) are purchased; operating nearly 100% emissions free. LWS also builds a 10,000 square-foot cardboard recycling process center and transfer station.
Fall 2018 - The largest projects to-date come together all at once for LWS. The company moves into its new, 10,000 square foot, state of the art facility. The 12,000 square foot maintenance shop is renovated inside and out, including the building of an additional service bay. LWS purchases an additional 6 acres connected to the current property and begins filling stations.
