OUR STORY

In 2016, we started Southern Spear with a mission to become the most trusted structural steel contractor in the south. We had ambition, integrity, hustle, a decade of experience + a passion for construction. But — that was about it.

Without investors or a trust fund, our president — Sean Compton — doubled down on his dream, leveraging personal savings + credit cards to get us off the ground. Using his home as company headquarters, we started with one job. One job turned into two. Two became ten.

Three years later, we’ve evolved into a full service structural steel shop, with projects located in our hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee all the way to Antartica. We believe our focus on expert craftsmanship + logistical efficiency are two key reasons for our early success. We have an in-house infrastructure that was built specifically to facilitate highly efficient design-build projects + processes. We have the capability to fully design, engineer, fabricate, and erect projects with our uniquely efficient, high-tech, collaborative operations. We even have our own fleet to deliver component parts to our job sites.

With nearly 100 employees and projects keeping our shop busy 12 months a year, we are grateful for the clients that trusted us when we didn’t have a track record. Most importantly — We’re grateful for the employees that have joined our team + work hard to deliver expert craftsmanship day in and day out.
